"Why?"
Isaac gently brushed his lips against hers and whispered, "You don't need to worry about these things. Just go back to work, focus on your job, and stay away from other men, especially Willard." "It's not what you think between me and Willard!"
"So, planning to marry him with my son was just a misunderstanding?"
Brittany's cheeks flushed with indignation. This was all his fault!
Isaac kissed the tips of her fingers softly, "Give me six months at most. I'll bring you home. Just wait for me."
He had never intended to reveal his true identity. But when Brittany went on that blind date, fear gripped Isaac that he might lose her to someone else.
The heat in Brittany's fingertips surged. In her wildest dreams, she hadn't imagined that Caspian was actually Isaac, her husband by law. The feelings she had been suppressing came rushing back. "Willard and I are just friends." She licked her lips nervously, "I had feelings for you once, but then you got married, and I-"
Isaac understood, but that didn't stop him from feeling jealous. "I'm feeling down. Stay with me for a while?"
Brittany remembered the doctor's advice, "Why do you drink if your stomach's not well?"
"Work demands it."
She was even more puzzled now. "Aren't you part of the Salter family? Why are you working with Elijah?"
"He saved my life. I owe him," Isaac answered succinctly, his hand gently caressing her waist, "Let's not talk about this now. Stay with me for a while."
Brittany opened her mouth to protest but ended up snuggling closer, her voice muffled, "Do you blame me?"
Isaac's hand stilled.
"It's not like I intentionally forgot about you."
Her voice was soft, "I can't remember anything..."
"I know."
At first, learning about Brittany's amnesia had confused him. However, with each encounter, i I was clear she had completely forgotten him. But with every meeting, she was drawn closer to him.
"Even if you've forgotten, it doesn't matter. You'll end up liking me again," Isaac said, locking eyes with her, "I wasn't planning on telling you, but I don't want to see you hurt."
Brittany suddenly moved closer and bit his lip, "Isaac, you've been playing games with me!"
Making her fall for a married man!
Isaac was caught between laughter and tears, unwilling to push her away, he just bore it silently.
Feeling a bit guilty, Brittany loosened her grip, "So, when will we see each other again?"
Now that their relationship was clear, she was eager to spend more time with Isaac.
"Six months at the latest."
Brittany's mind raced. Six months? That was too long.
"Is there anything I can do to help?"
Isaac didn't want Brittany to get involved in his dealings, shaking his head, "Just keep doing your job and pretend you don't know about me."
Brittany nodded in agreement.
"Alright, it's late. Let's get some sleep."
Feeling genuinely tired, Brittany curled up in Isaac's arms and fell into a deep sleep.
Once she was asleep, Isaac kissed her cheek tenderly, not missing an inch of her face.
Waking up early, Brittany found herself in the Lynette Mansion, Isaac long gone. If not for the faint ache on her lips, she might have believed it was all a dream.
As she sat up, she noticed a ring on her finger, simple yet exuding elegance. She examined the inside of the ring, replaceing their initials engraved on it. Realizing Isaac had left it for her, Brittany's face lit up with a smile, as sweet as if she had just tasted honey.
