Isaac had taken a tumble down a cliff before, leaving a scar on his forehead. It wasn't obvious, but up close, you could still spot it. Brittany was seeing the scar on Isaac's forehead for the first time. "Did you get this from falling off that cliff?"

Seeing the redness around her eyes, Isaac knew she felt sorry for him. "It doesn't hurt."

Brittany pouted. "How can such a long wound not hurt?"

She reached out, her soft palm touching the scar. Brittany felt a pang in her heart. "I heard you fell trying to save me."

Isaac held her hand and brought it to his lips. "You're my wife. It's my duty to save you."

Brittany's heart melted, fighting off sleepiness, she leaned in closer.

Isaac remained still.

The next second, a gentle kiss was placed.

Brittany was kissing his scar, her actions filled with tenderness and a hint of sorrow.

After a while, her eyes reddened, "Zakky, I'll protect you from now on."

Isaac chuckled lightly, embracing her. "The priority now is to get some sleep with me." Brittany, already exhausted, found comfort in his scent and fell into a deeper sleep.

The next morning, Isaac woke up early.

He put on his mask and quietly left.

Back at his apartment, Isaac dove back into work.

This kept him busy for over half a month as Craneville entered early fall.

Craneville's streets were lined with ginkgo trees, turning the city a shade of gold with the arrival of autumn. Brittany and Isaac hadn't seen each other for over half a month, almost losing all contact. On a rare weekend, Brittany planned to take Daniel to a resort.

But before they could leave, she received a call from Kari Malone.

"Brittany, I'm in Craneville on business. Let's grab a meal together."

Kari had taken over Bri-jeweled Studio and their relationship had gradually returned to what it was before Brittany's memory loss.

Brittany readily agreed, "Sure, I'll pick you up at the airport."

After hanging up, she looked at Daniel, already dressed in a little suit, "Daniel, change of plans. Aunt Kari is here. Let's go pick her up at the airport, okay?" Daniel nodded obediently. "Okay."

Whether it was going to the resort or the airport, as long as he was with his mom, he was content.

Brittany and Daniel headed straight for the airport.

She stopped to buy a bouquet of champagne roses, Kari's favorite. Kari had already arrived.

After greeting each other, Kari hugged Brittany, unable to hide her excitement. "Brittany."

Brittany let go, "Call me godmother."

"Kari," Daniel complied smoothly.

Kari adored Daniel, squatting down to hug him and magically producing a gift, much to Daniel's delight.

Kari's visit was for business.

She brought a few assistants, all familiar faces.

The assistants went ahead to the hotel, while Brittany took Kari to a high-end restaurant.

"Brittany, I've heard there's been quite a bit happening in Craneville lately. You haven't been affected, have you?"

"No," Brittany poured her a cup of tea. "The Lynette family has no reason to target us, and Elijah holds no grudge against us."

The Ulbricht family had fallen on hard times, and though Yuri had tried to help, he couldn't prevent their downfall but managed to preserve the Ulbricht bloodline. Kari sighed at the thought.

Midway through their meal, a young couple entered the restaurant.

They were a striking pair, the woman's eyes full of genuine affection, while the man seemed cold, with a hint of displeasure.

Brittany's appetite vanished upon seeing them. No time for her, but plenty to dine with another woman?

Kari noticed Brittany's change in demeanor. "Brittany, do you know them?"
