Isaac's expression changed abruptly, his concern palpable. Brittany, pregnant and vulnerable, could easily become a target for Eltham if he so decided.
"Dad, just focus on getting better. I'll get Bri back," Isaac asserted with a determination that left little room for doubt.
In that moment, Yuri couldn't help but see the stark contrast between the callous Eltham and his own son. Isaac might have always appeared detached and reserved, but his love for Brittany was profound and unwavering.
It made perfect sense why, after all the twists and turns, Brittany always found her way back to him.
"After the accident, Bri... she forgot everything." Isaac shared, a tinge of sadness in his voice.
Yuri stopped him in his tracks, "I had someone... clean her memories of you."
Isaac was momentarily taken aback but quickly masked his surprise.
"No wonder she couldn't remember me."
"I was wrong. Bri truly cares for you. When you were missing, I feared she'd be tormented by those memories..." Yuri admitted, revealing his own selfish motives. "I owe you an apology."
Isaac didn't see it that way. "Dad, we both love Bri. Even without your intervention, she might not have remembered me. And that's okay... Our past had its highs, sure, but it also had its painful lows. It's probably for the best that she forgot." He still carried the guilt of once having hurt Brittany deeply, knowing that no justification could ever make that right.
"Take care, Dad."
With those final words, Isaac left.
Watching him walk away, Yuri had to admit he might have misjudged the situation.
Descending the stairs, Isaac found Nathan waiting for him in the parking lot.
"Mr. Salter, we've got a lead on Hestia."
Their efforts had finally paid off; Hestia had been found.
"Where is she?"
"After being expelled by the royal family, Hestia wandered from place to place, eventually settling down in a small town in A country. She got married there seven years ago." "Married?"
"Yes, but it sounds like her husband leaves much to be desired. She's stuck in a bad situation."
Isaac's eyes narrowed. "Bring her to Craneville."
"You want to handle this personally."
Isaac was adamant about not messing this up. "The sooner, the better."
"Understood."
Nathan took the first flight back to A country that very night.
...
In a remote small town.
The dark alley echoed with the sound of muffled cries and the shattering of dishes.
"You useless thing! If it weren't for marrying you, would I have lost my job? You can't even give me a son! Get out!"
The drunken man kicked the woman over, who spat out blood and curled up on the ground, trembling all over.
Hidden in a slightly open wardrobe, a little girl cowered, her face pale with fear.
Unsatisfied, the man continued to rain down punches and kicks on the woman, who couldn't fight back.
"Leave my mom alone "
Emerging from the wardrobe, the little girl bit the man's wrist. He yelped in pain and flung her away. "Get lost!" "Bang="
"Mommy!"
The little girl crashed into the steps, blood gushing from her injuries.
Hestia panicked, scrambling to embrace her daughter. "Get out!"
The man kicked over the dinner table and stormed out.
"Twila, does it hurt?"
Hestia trembled as she looked at her bloodied daughter. "It's my fault, all my fault-"
"Mommy, I don't hurt."
Twila was pale, "Mommy, we don't need daddy. Can we leave, please?"
Hestia shivered. "But, he's your father-"
"I don't want a daddy. I just want you, Mommy."
