She struggled to sit up, spotting Isaac by the window conducting a video call.
She tried to speak, but as soon as she opened her mouth, her throat burned like fire.
Hearing her sound, Isaac instantly ended the call. "You're awake."
He poured a warm glass of water and handed it to her. "drink this first."
Brittany took the glass, feeling the water soothe her inflamed throat and tongue. After a while, she croaked, "Zakky, thank you."
It was him again, to the rescue.
Isaac poured another glass of water and said, "Drink some more."
After finishing the second glass, Brittany felt completely revived. Then a pressing question popped up: "Why are you here?"
"I had an appointment with a client here, but they ditched me. Instead, I found you."
Brittany took a deep breath, attempting to get off the bed.
"The doctor said you had an overdose; you need to rest." Isaac stopped her.
Brittany shook her head. "Did you rent this room by the hour?"
"Huh?"
"The Royal Elegance Hotel is pretty pricey," Brittany said, concerned for Isaac. "Take me home instead."
The Royal Elegance Hotel was a renowned five-star hotel. It was too much for them.
Isaac put his hand on her shoulder and said, "Just rest; the company will cover it."
"Really?"
"You never told me where you work." Brittany eyed Isaac, feeling he was pulling her leg. Could a company really be that generous?
"I work in a finance institution," Isaac replied casually.
Hearing this, Brittany dismissed her doubts. She looked around for her phone but couldn't replace it.
"Where's my phone?"
"It fell into the water; it's broken."
Isaac stood up, fetching a brand-new phone from the coffee table. "Get a new one; I've already sorted out the SIM."
Brittany took the phone and said, "Thank you."
She dialed Hannah, whose voice, cracking with emotion, came through immediately: "Bri, is that you? I'm at the Royal Elegance Hotel; where are you? I've been looking for you for hours!" "I'm at the hotel; I'll text you the room number," Brittany reassured her hoarsely. "Don't worry, I'm fine."
Isaac watched her, his phone ringing. It was Nathan. It was time for his business trip.
He closed his laptop, stowing it in his briefcase, then looked at Brittany and said, "I have to go on a trip for a few days; take care."
Brittany hung up the phone and said, "Zakky, thank you. When you're back, let me treat you to a meal, okay?"
He had saved her multiple times, and she wanted to treat him to a lavish meal to express her gratitude.
Isaac's expression softened. "Sure."
Just as he left, Hannah rushed in, holding Brittany and sobbing, "You scared me to death!"
Brittany laughed helplessly, consoling Hannah, "I'm okay now."
After crying her heart out, Hannah looked around the room and said, "This is a suite; where did you get the money?" "My husband paid," Brittany started. "He was here for a conference; all expenses were covered by his company."
Hannah couldn't believe it. Other than Grandeur Capital, which other company could be so extravagant?
"That's not the point; did Patrina bully you?" Hannah asked, "What was Finn thinking, just standing by while she bullied you?"
So infuriating! Hannah used to believe Finn truly liked Brittany!
"Bri, if we knew what Finn was like back then, you should have let him get his comeuppance during the kidnapping!"
