Chapter 453

"Brittany, why'd you push Joie? Her heart's dodgy"

Brittany froze in her tracks.

Just as Joie said, Grace didn't hesitate to back Joie up.

Brittany's refusal to speak made Grace feel a pang of disappointment. She called for Emily and the house staff. Together, they helped Jole downstairs. Before leaving, Grace shot Brittany a disapproving look, "Bri, has Joie done you wrong? She's already apologized. What more do you want?"

Brittany's last ounce of hope in Grace dissolved completely.

She had never been unconditionally trusted by anyone.

Be it her parents or anyone else

She turned around, retreating slowly into her bedroom, Think whatever you want to think. I'm beat."

Grace had never seen Brittany like this. It took her by surprise,

Just as she intended to probe further, Emily came upstairs to relay that Joie's injuries were severe and she needed to be rushed to the hospital.

Emily wasn't sure what had transpired, but having spent a lot of time with Brittany, she didn't believe Brittany would hit someone for no reason. So she tried to delend Brittany

'Mrs. Salter surely didn't mean to. Let's go check on Ms. Joie first.

Worried about Joie, Grace headed downstairs.

Joie had a noticeable wound on the back of her head, so Grace immediately got a driver to take her to the hospital.

As Joie was being helped into the car, she weakly clutched Grace's hand, "Nana, don't blame Bri. She didn't push me on purpose..."

Grace's heart melted. This silly kid was still looking out for Brittany even now?

She patted Joie's hand reassuringly, "Don't worry. I'll get to the bottom of this. I'll make it right."

Emily, sitting in the passenger seat, looked rather uneasy Ms. Jole seemed to be pleading for Brittany but was actually making sure Grace blamed Brittany for what happened. The truth couldn't be that simple. After they left, Brittany applied some essential oil and then climbed into bed.

Just as she was settling in, the bedroom door was pushed open.

Isaac walked in, "Did you have a fight with Joie?"

Brittany assumed Isaac was here to defend Joie, so she tossed her phone aside, "Yes!"

"You pushed her?"

Isaac sat on the edge of the bed, reaching out to hold Brittany, but she dodged him, 'Mr. Salter, you should go check on Ms. Joie

Brittany had been tricked by Joie, causing her to lose Grace's trust, so her tone was understandably sour.

Isaac detected her dissatisfaction yet still took her hand, "I'll look into this. I promise I won't let you be wronged."

He didn't believe Brittany would lash out without provocation. She wasn't that kind of person.

His firm trust comforted Brittany.

Her demeanor softened slightly. She recalled Joie's words, "When Grace had that car accident before, Jole saved her, right?"

"Yes. That accident was severe. If it weren't for her, Granny might've...

Isaac had already investigated that accident.

It was an unfortunate Incident.

It was this accident that made Grace feel indebted to

Brittany clenched her fists. Clearly, Joie had delibere. After half a year of interaction, she now saw Joie as her own granddaughter. However, the accident had been confirmed as just that Used the accident to win Grace's favor.

She couldn't prove Joie did it on purpose.

an accident.

Brittany fell-flent, thinking about how she could expose Joie's true colors.

Isaac intended to stay with her, but then Grace called several times. He chose to ignore them all for Brittany's sake:

Brittany knew these were Grace's calls. She pulled her hand away, "It's your Granny You should answer it."

Isaac tucked her in, gave her a peck on the forehead, "I'll make a quick run to the hospital. Get some rest." Drittany's heart instantly tightened.

After Isaac left, Brittany tossed and turned in bed. She couldn't sleep a wink until deep into the night.

At the hospital
