Chapter 473

"That would be best"

Brittany couldn't be bothered with Joie. She flopped onto the bed with the help of her bodyguard.

Joie tried to stir the pot, but Brittany didn't bite

Biting her lip in frustration, Joie stormed out.

Once Joie left, Brittany turned to her bodyguard and said, "Don't tell Mr. Salter about Join's visit"

She knew these bodyguards were Isaac's eyes and ears, keeping tabs on her every move, even what she ate and drank

The bodyguard simply pressed his lips together and said, "Get some rest, Mrs. Salter"

Clearly at a loss for a response, he chose to dodge the issue.

Brittany took her medicine daily. She should've been getting better, but her health was only getting worse, and she was sleeping longer and longer

Hannah tried to visit, but the security stopped her. Pissed, she called Isaac to give him a piece of her mind. Before she could finish, sleepiness overtook Brittany, and she was unable to calm her down. Hannah chewed him out, but Brittany didn't respond. Helplessly, she hung up.

Bennett's Mansion.

Looking at the recent reports from the bodyguards, Isaac's face hardened, "Didn't you say you could develop an antidote?"

Shona didn't expect Brittany's condition to be so severe.

"The poison has mutated several times; replaceing an antidote isn't easy Just give me more time. I'll hurry

Shona knew Isaac's cooperation was all because of Brittany If anything happened to Brittany, Isaac might have even breached the contract.

She didn't want to fall out with Isaac, and she had a soft spot for Brittany. She didn't want to see Brittany suffer.

Isaac closed the file, "Ms. Bennett, I'll give you half a month. If there's no progress by then, don't blame me for breaking our deal"

1 understand."

Shona and Isaac talked for a long time. Before leaving, Shona asked, "I heard Ms. Dustin is locked up. How is she doing?"

"Not well."

"Don't you plan to tell her about the child?" Shona was puzzled. Why wouldn't Isaac tell Brittany that it wasn't him who killed their child but that the child couldn't have survived anyway? "She loved that child. I don't want to upset her

Shona scoffed. Was this love?

"Mr. Salter, I advise you not to keep our deal from Ms. Dustin. You'll regret it."

Shona only needed to use Isaac to increase her bargaining chips. She had no other intentions towards him, but she wished to see Isaac and Brittany happy together.

"That's my business." Isaac left.

In the spacious living room, Shona picked up a rose from the table, gently stroking it. After a while, a smell wafted from the kitchen. She instinctively

covered her mouth.

Her stomach churned, and she felt like throwing up.

Shona forced down the nausea. She walked into the kitchen to see the maid preparing dinner.

"What's wrong, Ms. Bennett?"

Shona frowned, "Don't cook anything with a strong smell."

It made her queasy.

The maid quickly agreed.

Brittany was awake less and less. Isaac spent most of his time at the hospital. Grace visited a few times, but Brittany didn't want to talk to her, so she stopped coming

In one of her rare lucid moments, Isaac helped Brittany change into winter clothes, saying, "Tomorrow is New Year's. Let's go out for a walk"

As planned, he should've taken her back to Salter Manor on New Year's Eve to ring in the new year with the family

Despite the pain from her wounds, Brittany refused to use a wheelchair and insisted on walking on her own

Isaac helped her put on her boots. The boots were lined with thick wool, warm and soft, like walking on clouds

'Let's

$ go.

Isaac held out his hand.

Brittany avoided his hand. She gritted her teeth and rose to her feet, "I want to see Kyle:

That was the second time.
