Chapter 643

Hannah waited for a while before she said, "This is the best it's gonna get."

"Bri, you made the right call with William." Hannah commented as a mutual friend who had hoped more than anyone that they'd work things out.

But she also knew that if a relationship wasn't built on love, it was not gonna stand the test of time.

"You might have agreed to be with William, but the reality is that your feelings for him are not love."

Brittany knew Hannah was right. She nestled into Hannah's shoulder and said, "If only I could have had feelings for him from the get-go."

"You can't force these things." Hannah comforted her. "Considering everything, it's probably for the best."

They chatted till the wee hours and naturally woke up late.

Brittany left Hannah's place after lunch and went back to Bri-jeweled Studio. She found out Joseph Palmer had been sniffing around and had a spat with Kari Malone.

"Ms. Dustin, better watch your back," her assistant warned, sensing Joseph's ill intent.

After wrapping up work in her office, Brittany decided to set aside two days at the end of the month to attend Lionel's wedding.

At four in the afternoon, Brittany left work early to pick up her son from kindergarten.

The school was letting out, and kids were streaming out. Brittany spotted Daniel right away.

After noticing her, Daniel bolted into her arms. "Mommy, you came to get me."

Brittany held him and smiled. "I'm sorry, sweetheart. I was at your godmother's house last night and couldn't make it."

Daniel shook his head. "It's okay, Mommy."

"Daniel, is this your mom?" A little girl asked.

Brittany looked up at a little girl in a light pink princess dress. She was adorable, especially her eyes.

"Yes." Daniel shyly pushed Brittany away. "Mom, this is my friend, Abby."

"Hello." Abby greeted her politely.

Brittany smiled back. "Hello, Abby."

"Daniel, your mom is so beautiful." Abby thought she was whispering, but Brittany caught every word.

"My mom is the prettiest mom in the world." Daniel said as he puffed his chest out.

"Let's get going." Brittany had made reservations at a restaurant to try some new dishes with Daniel.

"Mom, Abby's mom didn't come. Can we bring her with us?" Daniel tugged at Brittany's hand, his eyes full of hope.

Brittany was taken aback. "Take her with us?"

What if her mom came and couldn't replace her?

Brittany was hesitant. Daniel pulled her to the side. "Mom, Abby is my best friend. Her mom is always busy, and she has to wait here all by herself every day." Brittany knew Daniel was a pure soul and could understand his desire for company. She looked at Abby. "Do you have your mom's phone number?"

"Yes." Abby rattled off a string of numbers.

Brittany diated the number, and a woman answered. "Hello, who is this?"

"Hello! Are you Abby's mom? I'm Kyle's mom, also known as Daniel. Daniel wants to have dinner with Abby. Would that be okay with you? If it's alright, I can add you on WhatsApp and keep you updated..." Brittany realized her presumptuousness after making the call. It was their first meeting, and she was about to take someone's daughter away. She prepared herself for being hung up on.

To her surprise, the woman on the other end agreed readily. "Sure thing. You guys go ahead. I'll pick her up at eight."
