Chapter 701

She soothed Daniel, pulled out her phone, and dialed Wesley, "Get a doctor here as soon as possible. I'll text you the address.."

Wesley, swamped with work, frowned, "Why do you need a doctor at this hour?"

"Isaac's here. He's burning up."

"Thud."

There was a loud noise on the other end. Wesley panicked and said,, "Okay, I'm on my way."

After hanging up, Brittany looked at Daniel, who was crying his heart out. She gently wiped away his tears, saying, "Sweetie, don't cry. The doctor will be here soon!" Seeing Isaac in distress, Daniel ran into the bathroom and returned with a warm towel. He climbed onto the bed with difficulty, helping Isaac wipe the sweat off his

face.

He was small and didn't have much strength. He could only reach so far, and after a few wipes, he was too exhausted to continue.

Brittany couldn't help but marvel at the power of blood ties. She couldn't bear to watch any longer. She took the towel from Daniel's hand, lifted him onto the couch, and said, "Stay put. I've got this."

She went to the bathroom and returned with a tub of warm water. She then went downstairs to fetch the first aid kit, took out some rubbing alcohol, and applied it to Isaac's body.

Daniel curled up on the couch. His little face was flushed, and his eyes welled up as he watched Brittany.

"Mom, will Dad be okay?

Brittany sensed his anxiety and said, "He will be fine. Don't worry, sweetie."

Daniel couldn't close his eyes; he watched Brittany's every move.

The rain was pouring heavily; it was quite a distance from Imperial City.

Two hours later, Wesley arrived, followed by a doctor who was quite terrified seeing Isaac passed out due to the fever.

They gave Isaac a shot of antipyretic. If the fever hadn't subsided, they would have had to take him back to Imperial City.

Daniel cried himself to sleep and was then lying on the couch. As Brittany saw the doctor arrive, she picked him up and took him to his bedroom.

Wesley was surprised to replace Isaac in the suburbs when he couldn't locate him in Imperial City. And he was nearly burnt out due to the fever.

He stood outside and took a drag of his cigarette with irritation.

Brittany emerged from the bedroom and closed the door, saying, "Quit smoking."

Daniel was still around.

Wesley stubbed out his cigarette with annoyance, "Why didn't you call me after he was burned to the ground?"

"If it wasn't for my son, I wouldn't have let him in."

Wesley thought Brittany was quite ruthless. She used to be head over heels for Isaac, but then she was cold-hearted.

Isaac was on the verge of burning out, yet she showed no concern, not even bothering to look at him.

He grabbed another cigarette, "Imperial City's in chaos now. But you're here, hiding out."

"I'm not hiding; I just came back to check." Brittany rubbed her temples, "Since your people are here; I'll leave him to you. Don't wake my son up, and take Isaac away once he's better." Wesley was surprised at her indifference to Isaac. He couldn't help but ask, "Aren't you worried?"

"Worried about what?" Brittany scoffed, "It's late. Get some sleep."

She went straight to her room.

Wesley watched her leave, lit another cigarette, leaned against the wall, and smoked away.

Perhaps it was exhaustion, but Brittany fell asleep almost immediately.

When she woke up, Daniel was still sitting by Isaac, The antipyretic shot from the previous night didn't work.

In fact, it was getting worse.

Wesley wanted to take Isaac back to Imperial City, but due to the heavy downpour the night before, the road had collapsed. They were stuck.

When Brittany woke up, Wesley, who had pulled an all-nighter, was asleep on the couch.

Isaac was still on an IV, and Daniel was holding the IV tube, whispering something into his ear.

Brittany, in a rare moment of compassion, closed the door and went downstairs.

The yard had been cleaned up, and someone was preparing lunch in the kitchen.
