Chapter 711
Zella was forced to endure, tears welling up in the corners of her eyes. Marcel seemed incredibly satisfied. When it was over, he pulled her into his arms, "I've heard from Mom that Nova is getting better?"
"Yes."
"Then let's try to give Nova a little brother or sister."
Zella suddenly remembered they hadn't taken precautions!
"Marcel, I don't want to do that right now."
Zella struggled out of his arms, "You promised me that once Nova gets better, I can go back to work."
Marcel didn't like her defying him, nor did he like the idea of her working. His eyes darkened a bit as he spoke, "Zella, behave."
Zella pursed her lips; she knew he was getting annoyed.
She took a deep breath, and then slowly sat back on his lap, her voice softening, "Give me a bit more time."
Marcel surprisingly showed a bit more patience. His hand grazed through her hair, making a slow, affirmative hum.
"In a few days, there's the Salter family feast. You don't need to go."
He didn't think much of the old fogies in the Salter family.
Zella thought he was unwilling to take her out in public. Her fair face turned a bit pale and she stayed silent for a long time. Isaac refused to sign the papers, turning away the lawyer Brittany had sent multiple times.
She had no choice but to consider filing for divorce.
The project she was developing with Wesley was on track, and Brittany found herself attending a few social events.
In the middle of yet another dinner, Brittany had a couple of drinks and was having a low conversation with her assistant.
"Have you heard? Isaac has become a recluse and nearly drank himself to death at home!"
Suddenly, someone at the table blurted out.
At the mention of Isaac's name, almost everyone's gaze fell on Brittany.
Weren't they once husband and wife?
Brittany played a key role in the Salter family drama. It was clear they had a falling out!
That man, seemingly encouraged, laughed out loud, "Ms. Dustin, you really know how to play hardball. Isaac used to be high and mighty, and now look at him!" Brittany's eyes turned cold, "Mr. Adams, watch your words."
"Ms. Dustin, isn't this the truth? Doesn't everyone in Imperial City know about the role you played in this? But I wonder, aren't you afraid your son will hate you for this?"
"But you've done an amazing job. I remember when I wanted to collaborate with the Salter family, Isaac gave me the cold shoulder, and even looked down on me. Now he's down and out like a stray dog. If he were to come begging, I might be inclined to give him a little something..."
That man kept on jabbering. No one else dared to utter a word.
Brittany rubbed her aching brow, "Mr. Adams, if you know I'm ruthless, you should also know I wouldn't hesitate to take you down either."
She and Isaac had a fight to the death. It was their business and not for outsiders to comment on!
Mr. Adams went pale as if all the alcohol in his system had suddenly evaporated.
'Ms. Dustin..."
Brittany lost the mood to continue the conversation. She stood up with her assistant and said, "Tell Wesley, we don't need to associate with Mr. Adams anymore."
"Understood."
Her assistant knew Mr. Adams had crossed a line and upset Brittany.
Brittany got into the car. Her assistant drove her back to the mansion.
Back home, Brittany opened Twitter. The Salter family scandal was still a hot topic.
She knew what the public opinion was and also knew that despite their surface respect, people were talking behind her back about her ruthlessness.
They weren't wrong. She was indeed ruthless.
Before bed, Brittany got a call from Wesley, He said, "I've taken care of Mr. Adams."
"Was it because he called you ruthless? Or was it because he Insulted Zac?"
Wesley wanted to know what Brittany was really thinking.
"That's my business."
Brittany didn't want to answer that question. She once truly loved Isaac, but then she truly hated him!
