Chapter 833

Joie's knuckles were white as she clenched her fists, her eyes a swirling storm of envy.

10 a.m. sharp.

The court session commenced.

The attorneys clashed with the ferocity of gladiators.

Brittany sat at the plaintiff's bench, watching Jolin weave her words with the grace of a seasoned poet, making a deliberate assault case seem like a walk in the park.

Brittany had to admit, Jolin was a rare breed of genius.

But alas...

One false move and the game was lost!

The trial dragged on for over three hours, and ultimately, the judge, due to insufficient evidence, ruled that Joie should compensate Brittany with a substantial amount of three hundred thousand. Joie cast a smug glance at Brittany, her eyes screaming, "See, even if I wronged you, the law can't touch me!"

Brittany remained serene, her composure as still as a pond.

Isaac watched the unfolding drama with a creeping unease.

Soon, once this trial wraps up, Joie will be shipped off, barred from ever setting foot here again, eliminating the obstacle between him and Brittany.

"The court is adjourned..."

"Wait!"

As the judge was about to conclude, the plaintiff's attorney stood up. "Your Honor, I have just received a video that conclusively proves the defendant's intentional harm to my client. I urge the court to review this new evidence!"

It was as if the attorney's words were a slap across Joie's face.

A video?

Weren't all those videos with Isaac? How did they end up in the plaintiff's hands?

The judge called for the video to be played.

As the footage rolled, murmurs rippled through the courtroom.

Isaac whipped his head towards Brittany, his eyes wide with shock.

It was footage from an old live stream.

Was she the one who had started the live stream?

Their eyes locked, and Brittany's gaze was unflappable.

She had said it before, even with Isaac in her life, Joie had to pay.

The emergence of new evidence forced the judge to revise his ruling.

Even Jolin's brilliance couldn't salvage the situation now.

As the final sentence was uttered, Joie collapsed onto the defendant's bench, eyes with fury, fixated on Brittany. "Brittany, you played me!" Only now did she realize that from the beginning, she had been outmaneuvered by Brittany.

Brittany's smile was faint, "I told you, there would be a price to pay."

Joie's scream pierced the air, but she was escorted out.

The courtroom emptied, each person disappearing into their own lives.

Brittany gathered her things and rose slowly.

"You planned this all along," Isaac's voice broke the silence.

"Do you think I'd take this lying down?" Brittany chuckled lightly. "Isaac, don't forget what you promised when you begged for forgiveness."

When he had pleaded for reconciliation, he had sworn never to let her suffer again.

Yet, here she was, the one who had suffered.

Isaac, flustered, blurted out, "I did it out of gratitude. My debt to Joie is settled, and I've made arrangements for her to leave. She won't bother us again." "So, I'm supposed to suffer for that?" Brittany sharply cut him off. "Isaac, I'm disappointed in you."

He chose to repay a debt, but why use her anguish as a stepping stone?

With a piercing look, Brittany strode away, leaving Isaac frozen in place.

Nathan returned to replace Isaac still standing there, a pang of sympathy in his heart.

"Mr. Salter, what about Ms. Joie?"

"Drop the appeal, let her face the consequences."

Isaac exhaled, guilt washing over him as he thought of Brittany's anger, "Nathan, did I really mess up?"
