Chapter 891
Brittany hadn't slept in days. Another blow had taken its toll, causing her to faint from exhaustion into Isaac's arms as he carried her to the car. Nathan floored the gas pedal the moment he saw her condition.
Isaac held Brittany close, his jaw clenched, anger simmering beneath the surface.
At the hospital, the doctors dressed Brittany's wounds and gave her a nutritional IV.
"Mr. Salter, Ms. Dustin fainted from extreme fatigue and is still unconscious. Try not to worry too much," Nathan said in a hushed tone.
"Get the security footage. We're suing Carla," Isaac commanded, standing outside the hospital room, his aura icy and detached.
Nathan doubted his ears for a moment, but as he observed Isaac closely, he could tell the man was at his breaking point.
Carla's repeated targeting of Brittany had long exhausted Isaac's patience. Now that she had attacked Brittany in public, how could he let it slide?
"Understood."
Nathan immediately gathered the security footage and contacted their lawyer.
He didn't need to stretch his imagination to predict Carla's reaction. She would rage. Then she would beg for mercy. And then, she would offend again.
When Brittany woke up, her forehead was still throbbing with pain. Recollections of the incident flooded her mind, and she jolted upright, gasping for air as the sharp pain from her wound intensified. Glancing around, she noticed the room was empty.
Isaac was probably at the funeral.
After resting for nearly half an hour, Brittany called Kari.
"Kari, can you come to the hospital?"
She couldn't make it to the funeral on her own.
Kari arrived quickly.
Seeing the bandage on Brittany's forehead, she seethed, "Brittany, Carla's gone too far. She did this to you and didn't even apologize!"
Brittany massaged her temples. "Help me get dressed. I need to be there."

Grace was to be laid to rest in the morning. She couldn't be absent.
Kari knew Brittany was set on her decision and helped her into a black dress, then supported her to the car, taking her to the chapel.
Most of the guests had left, leaving only the Salter family and those close to Grace at the funeral home.
As soon as Brittany stepped out of the car, Carla charged at her, hand raised to strike. "Brittany, you have some nerve showing up. What did you say to my brother? He's actually suing me for you!"
"Carla!"
A calm, authoritative voice cut through the air, freezing Carla in her tracks, her hand suspended mid-air. She turned, trembling.
Isaac stood nearby, clad in a somber black suit, his demeanor grave yet noble.
"Zac..." Carla stumbled over her words.
"I thought I warned you," Isaac said, moving through the crowd.
Panic distorted Carla's face.
Isaac didn't give her a chance to speak. He approached Brittany, his gaze tender on her forehead. "Weren't you supposed to rest at the hospital?"
Brittany, mustering her strength, replied, "I wanted to say goodbye to Grandma one last time."
Isaac had anticipated Brittany's arrival. Taking her hand, he said, "Let's go."
Carla stood rooted in place, trembling uncontrollably. "Zac, I realize my mistake."
"The lawsuit stands," Isaac stated firmly.
Carla's eyes widened in disbelief. "Zac, I'm your family. How can you take me to court over an outsider?"
If word got out, how could she ever hold her head high in Imperial City again?
