Flair POV

"Grayson I'm pregnant with your child. A few weeks pregnant to be exact."

I'd done it. I told him the news, waiting to see if it was a crushing blow but Grayson's reaction shocked me. I didn't know how he'd take it, part of me hoped he would be happy, but I never thought I would see him shout in joy so loudly or move to embrace me so tightly while tears flowed down my face. His reaction was even better than I could have hoped for.

"You're pregnant," he said joyfully "I can't believe it, I thought for sure that, what with all the bleeding," he said confused, as he pulled back and stared into my eyes.

"Implantation bleeding," I said faintly in explanation.

He gave me a whoop and hugged me again as I fought back my laughter.

"I can't believe it," he said, pulling back and cupping my face "I can't believe it" he repeated in disbelief "I'm going to be a father."

"So you're happy" I tried to confirm with a grin.

He laughed incredulously "Happy? I'm over the moon Flair. What else would I be?" he asked as I stared at him.

Happy. My husband was happy about the pregnancy. A lone tear trailed down my cheek. I had never thought I would be this fearful of his reaction to something as I had already been today. There had been no plans in my mind, just one thought.

I am not giving up this baby, no matter what.

Which was stupid, because hadn't Grayson wanted a baby originally when he married me?

"But you wanted to wait," I said quietly.

"I did, but this is a blessing," Grayson said "and it doesn't affect how I feel about you."

"So this isn't about the contract? Or the stipulations on getting the company?" I asked trying not to sound insecure.

His eyes darkened "Of course not. You're more important than the contract and I've already told you screw the company. I want this baby Flair, so bad it hurts. I know you're going to make an incredible mother. You're so loving and kind, our child will be that as well" he said solemnly "This is a chance to bring us even closer together. I will go to every appointment with you" he promised with excitement.

"I don't think that's necessary" I began but his eyes narrowed and a look of determination came over his face.

"I want to" he insisted and I laughed and nodded.

"Okay," I said agreeably.

He relaxed. Timothy and Rachel came walking in, both of them pink-cheeked from being outside. Rachel shot me a knowing look. "Did you tell him?" she asked pointedly.

"Yes," I said smiling.

"Tell him what?" Timothy asked confused as he took his coat off "What am I missing?" he asked Rachel who looked at me and Grayson.

We gave her a subtle nod, indicating she had permission to tell Timothy the news. Knowing Rachel, I knew she wouldn't be able to keep the secret locked up for long anyway. Not from Timothy. She would let it slip unintentionally. "Well," Rachel said slowly as Timothy smiled at her "Flair here is pregnant with Grayson's baby" she sang out.

Timothy's head whipped around. "Really," he said excitedly "Congratulations Sir and Flair" he quickly corrected himself. "I'm so happy for you both," Rachel said warmly.

Timothy came over and hugged me and then Grayson. "it's excellent news," he said "When are you planning on telling your family?"

I shot a look at Grayson "I want to wait until we're past the first trimester" I told him anxiously, biting my lip "just in case."

I didn't elaborate but the way that Grayson's expression darkened and his eyes narrowed, told me he knew what I was alluding to.

"We should throw a party," Rachel said, while I tried to shake my head "Invite everyone so you can tell them all together. Get it all out in the open," she said as I stared at her "It would annoy the hell out of Charlotte."

Her voice was filled with glee at the thought of it.

I groaned "Let's not think about that. I'm already worried that she's going to feel threatened by this. We didn't even get a chance to tell her we no longer want the Deluca company."

"You don't," Rachel said in disbelief "Are you crazy you two?" she said shrilly as I looked at her surprised by her vehemence "Since when do you not stand up for yourself Flair?" she continued to berate me "and did you think about all those poor employees bound to lose their jobs if you don't get the company? What about those poor souls?"

I glanced at Grayson uncomfortably. He cleared his throat "I understand your reservations Rachel and I have considered that" he admitted, "but Flair is more important than the company to me."

"I'm not saying she isn't but you're pregnant, so you're still in the bloody race aren't you?" Rachel demanded "All I'm saying is keep silent on the matter and see where it goes. Don't just give it to that little spoilt hoyden b***h" she hissed as Grayson's lower lip twitched "At least make her fight for it."

Timothy coughed, fighting back his laughter.

"Maybe she's right," I said to Grayson, guilt overwhelming me "The employees rely on the jobs to be able to put food on the table and provide for their families."

"But Flair, I already said..."

"I know but we established we love each other. None of us think about this as a contract marriage anymore" I said gently "What harm could it do to keep ourselves in the running now that I'm pregnant?"

He took me in his arms "Flair Oakes you are the most generous, unselfish, loving woman I have ever met. If this is what you want, then so be it. I'll tell Grandfather to keep us in mind. But if it starts to affect our marriage, then all bets are off. I won't have this getting between us" he warned. "Fine," I said leaning into him.

Rachel leaned into Timothy who wrapped his arm around her. She giggled "Oh I wish I could see Charlotte's face when she replaces out that you're pregnant," she said while Timothy merely chuckled and Grayson smirked "She's going to lose it big time," she said crowing.

"It wasn't planned" I protested.

"She won't care" Rachel pointed out wisely "She's going to hate you regardless of that fact. Better get used to that idea now. Has Knox asked you for his favor yet Grayson?" she asked batting her eyelashes at him as I turned and eyed him suspiciously. "No," Grayson said looking bewildered "Why?"

Poor man. He was genuinely confused.

"Well we all know what the baby is going to be called," Rachel said as Grayson looked at her in disbelief and I giggled "As soon as he replaces out he's going to be an uncle, he'll be calling in that favor you owe him. There's no getting out of it now" she added smugly.

"I am not calling my child after Knox" Grayson protested.

I laughed "You might not have a choice."

"He can choose another favor" he grumbled, "because I'm not doing it."

"Why?" I asked provoking him "What's wrong with my brother's name?"

He looked at Timothy for help. Timothy shrugged his shoulders and gave him a hopeless look.

"Flair," he said and I burst into laughter, tears coming into my eyes.

"It's okay, I'll negotiate with Knox" I promised giggling wildly.

Rachel sighed and eyed her boyfriend "We should go" she said reluctantly.

"You don't have to" Grayson protested, holding my hand tightly.

"You have work," I said quietly, glancing pointedly at the stack of folders waiting for his attention "I'll see you when you get home."

He sighed "But, how am I supposed to concentrate now?" he asked causing us all to giggle.

"You'll work it out," I said unsympathetically.

He pouted. I motioned to Rachel, who turned and kissed Timothy on the lips. Grayson took the opportunity to kiss me, his lips tender and gentle, leaving me a messy puddle as he pulled away.

"Don't cook" Grayson said softly "I'll bring something home for dinner."

"We need to hire a cook," I said grumpily.

"We do, I'll organize that," he said swiftly.

We began to walk out of the office, aware that the men's eyes were still on us. "They remind you of puppies don't they" Rachel laughed, flipping her hair over her shoulder as we began to make our way downstairs.

"A little bit. Can you believe how excited Grayson is?" I asked her and she turned to me, eyeing me disbelieving.

"Of course he's excited. That man is head over heels for you. I've never seen anybody so in love before. I'm envious." "You know Timothy loves you," I said, as we reached the base of the stairs, the bodyguard dutifully following behind us "he's smitten."

We headed towards the limousine. Immediately images flashed through my mind. Poor Myles was shot, his body fell to the ground, and my mouth opened in a silent scream. Men pushing their way inside the limousine, a hand pressing itself against my mouth. I halted, feeling my body begin to tremble and quake as Rachel eyed me carefully, knowing where my mind was at.

"Flair, they're dead" she whispered, taking hold of my hand "You're safe now. See" she pointed at the limousine as the bodyguard deliberately pushed the door open so that I could see inside.

"You're safe" she whispered and I allowed her to drag me slowly towards the limousine, my heart racing in my chest. Safe. Such a simple word that we take for granted. Even with bodyguards surrounding me, my body still reacted fearfully in certain situations. I could feel sweat trickling down my back. I could barely breathe as Rachel helped me into the backseat. I wanted out of the parking lot. For all my bravado in the office, the mere thought of being here was enough to make me sick.

The driver was quick to pull out, while Rachel held onto my hand the whole time as it shook in her grasp. I had told Grayson I was fine, but the reality was much more dark. I wasn't fine. I still had nightmares, I still woke up screaming some nights. Visiting him at his office filled me with terror.

With all that was going on inside my head and my body, was my baby going to be okay, or was this going to affect them as well and could I forgive myself if I lost them?
