Chapter 388

He furrowed his brows, eyes glued to Joshua's tombstone. Suddenly, he was gasping for air. He took a deep breath as horrifying images flashed in his mind. What the hell was going on? He found it hard to breathe.

Allison was pulling weeds, oblivious to his discomfort. Nicholas' throat was dry. He asked, "Allison, how old were you when your brother and father passed away?"

"I had just started middle school."

"Did your brother like pickles?"

"Nope. My mom said pickles are good for health, but Ricky couldn't stand them. If you handed him a whole pickle, he'd somehow manage. But if you diced it up in food, he'd pick out every last bit." "Did he have any particular preferences?"

"He loved BBQ sauce, hated mayo. He didn't like lamb, said it smelled funky. He was a beef guy."

"He was a leftie. His handwriting was real neal with his left hand."

Nicholas' mind was suddenly buzzing. "Leftie?”

He looked at his own left hand. He never thought he was a leftie. As far as he remembered, he was always a rightie. But sometimes, he did feel his left hand was surprisingly nimble.

Nicholas stared at Joshua's tombstone, a surge of emotion welled up in his chest. An indescribable feeling rose in his heart.

Shawn and his girlfriend were also at the cemetery. It was her father's death anniversary. He laid flowers before the tombstone.

This was one of the biggest cemeteries in Northfield. Shawn didn't expect to run into Allison here. Seeing Allison wasn't a big deal, but she was with Nicholas. Now, that was a big deal.

Shawn thought for a moment and snapped a picture of them. He figured Lucian would lose it if he saw them together. Lucian was already in a foul mood this morning, even though he seemed fine when he took Ms. Zimmer's call at lunch yesterday. Mr. Lindberg's temper was unpredictable.

His girlfriend noticed his actions. "You dare to sneak pictures of other women? Have you fallen for that woman? Her back does look nice. Shawn, we're here to memorialize my father, and you're taking pictures of other women behind my back!" She pinched Shawn.

Shawn said, "I wouldn't dare!" He lowered his voice, pointing at that figure, "That woman is indeed beautiful, but I wouldn't dare have any ideas about her. She's Mr. Lindberg's..."

His girlfriend was surprised, "Mr. Lindberg?"

Shawn nodded. Her surprise grew, "How is that possible?"

Everyone in the company knew how cold and aloof Lucian was. She quietly took out her phone, focusing on Allison, "Who's that guy next to her? He's tall and handsome."

"That's Felix's grandson, Nicholas."

His girlfriend, Krista, said, "How is Mr. Lindberg's girlfriend with Felix's grandson? Are they on a date?"

Shawn glanced at her, "Krista, you're bold."

Krista covered her mouth, "Really? Who exactly is this woman? Why can she attract Mr. Lindberg and also Felix's grandson? I really want to see. She suddenly remembered, "Wait, doesn't Mr. Lindberg have a fiancée..." She glanced at her boyfriend, pinched his arm, "Could it be, this woman is Mr. Lindberg's..."

"What if he has a fiancée? Mr. Lindberg isn't married yet. As for this woman... better you know less. Curiosity killed the cat. Let's mind our own business."

"You're right."
