Chapter 404

It was just a simple sentence, but it filled Allison with warmth.

She took the toy from him, "Would you wait for me if I don't show up tonight?" Without waiting for Lucian to respond, she continued, "Mr. Lindberg's time is very precious. If you say you'd wait, I definitely won't believe you."

"How can you be so sure I won't wait for you?" Lucian asked with a smile, "If I invite you to a movie, would you accept?"

They chose a romantic movie and headed to the theater.

Halfway into the movie, the plot turned cliché. The male and female leads agreed to meet at the movies, but the guy couldn't make it. The supporting male actor tried to stop the lead from going, while the female lead waited at the theater for a whole hour before the male lead finally showed up.

The female lead seemed a bit angry, "If I were out with another man today and you were at the theater, would you wait for me?"

Without hesitation, the male lead replied, "Of course I would!"

Cliché, yet it struck a chord.

Allison suddenly heard a deep voice next to her ear, "I would too."

Allison was taken aback. She thought she was hearing things. Otherwise, how could she have heard anything other than the movie? Was that Lucian?

In the movie, the girl asked, "How long would you wait for me, like I waited for you?"

The boy replied, "I want to watch movies with you for a lifetime."

Then they hugged each other tightly.

The scene was touching, along with the appropriate background music.

Allison had a lump in her throat. She wanted to ask Lucian, if she didn't show up tonight, how long would he wait?

Obviously, she couldn't hear the answer from the movie. She whispered, "Lucian, I promise I'll be on time the next time we watch a movie." Because she was willing to be the one waiting for him.

In the movie, the scene of the couple kissing continued. Those in love would replace it sweet, while those heartbroken would replace it bitter.

Allison lowered her head slightly; she suddenly felt a bit breathless and wanted to step out for some air.

"Lucian, I'm going to the restroom." Allison said.

The restroom was outside the theater. Allison washed her face and knew she would never be the leading lady; she would always be the supporting cast between Lucian and Penelope. She should have treated her relationship with Lucian as a transaction. He wanted her body and she wanted his resources.

But she was already smitten. When did she start liking Lucian?

Since the moment she found out she was carrying Lucian's child. Or since the moment he stood in front of her, shielding her from the tea set Leah threw. Maybe even earlier, from their accidental first meeting. After a few minutes outside, Allison returned to the theater. From light to darkness, Allison could barely see, she walked into the sixth row and headed in.

As she walked past a man, she tripped and almost fell. Lucian reached out his hand and steadied her

Allison seemed a bit embarrassed, but she looked down at the man's long legs and whispered, "You did that on purpose."

She was trying to get past and his legs were in the way.

The man smirked and rasped, "What if I say I did it on purpose?"

Allison was taken aback. Suddenly, the man's hand lifted her by her hips and she was seated on his lap. The man's lips covered hers, leaving Allison wide-eyed in surprise. She realized they were in a movie theater.

She slapped his chest with her hand. But the next second, her fingers were caught by his.
