Chapter 443

Grace did a massive cleaning this morning.

She stumbled upon a few clothes, which still had their tags on in Allison's closet. Grace, planning to help her tidy it up, was taken aback by the jaw-dropping prices on those tags.

Grace was stunned. She took a closer look at the labels, whipped out her phone and googled the brand. Turned out, it was some high-end luxury brand.

How could Allison have bought these?

From what Grace knew about her daughter, even if Allison had the money, she wouldn't splurge on these seemingly fancy but practically useless luxury items.

She pulled out her phone, ready to grill Allison about this, but Lola answered the call. After hanging up, Grace felt like she may have jumped the gun. Her daughter was now a celebrity; it was only natural for her to have some fancy clothes.

With that thought, Grace sighed. She hung the clothes back in the closet, knowing her daughter wasn't the type to be all about the glitz and glam.

How could she have doubted Allison, even for a split second?

10 minutes later, Allison returned her call.

"Mom, Lola said you called? I was in the middle of a commercial shoot." Allison said.

Grace was a bit flustered, "No big deal, I accidentally dialed. Are you done with the shoot? How's work?"

"Not yet, still have more to do. I'll be home early tonight. Mom, it's your birthday tomorrow. Let's go shopping." Allison said.

"I'm too old for birthdays now. It's just a waste of money. Allie, you need to save the money you earn and plan for the future." Grace said. Allison was about to continue her shoot. Today was a promotion for a big brand bag. As she was about to hang up, she heard Grace ask, "Allie, have you been dating someone recently?"

Allison asked, "Mom, is something up?"

"Well, Penelope introduced someone to you. I think he's quite decent, and his family's well-off." Grace said.

Allison's brow slightly raised, "Penelope?"

"Yes, Allie. I know you and Penelope don't get along. You've always been at odds since you were kids. But Penelope is actually quite nice. She's just a bit arrogant because she was spoiled at home. She truly wants to make amends with you. Penelope is now bedridden, with multiple fractures, and she's had it rough. I've seen you two grow up together. I know my own child. Allie, I know you're busy but can you spare some time to visit Penelope?" Grace said.

"Sure, I'd like to visit Penelope in the hospital." Allison smiled, "Mom, since you want me to visit Penelope, I'd be happy to. As for her being a good person deep down, I won't forget the threats she and Leah made against me. They're both rotten to the core."

"Allie, that's a bit harsh." Grace said.

Allison slowly closed her eyes. Harsh? Not at all.

She couldn't forget how her child was taken away from her, nor could she forget how they threatened her to take the fall for them.

Allison ended the call. Emma beside her noticed her mood shift, and gently reminded her, "Allison, we're about to start shooting."

Allison slowly exhaled, put on a smile, and resumed the shoot.

Over the weekend, Allison and Daisy went for shopping. Daisy was getting engaged to the eldest son of the Boswell family next week. She seemed to have found peace with it.
