Chapter 204: Forced to a dead end

When he heard her voice, Rodney's head snapped up, and he scrambled to his feet as his gaze settling on Kelsey. "That is right, the Leslies. Kelsey, my dear. You're engaged to Andrew, aren't you?" Kelsey nodded hesitantly, unsure of where this was going.

"Well, then you must convince him to lend us the money to make up for this disaster," Rodney said, grabbing Kelsey by the shoulders. "As long as we have that, we'll be fine!"

Kelsey's Aunt scoffed. "And why should Kelsey have to beg her fiancé for money? This is your mess, Rodney Jackson, you should be the one to fix it!" she did not want to spoil her niece's engagement because of this. Kelsey was not sure if her Aunt really meant what she said. "You don't understand!" Rodney pleaded. "If we don't get that money, we'll lose everything!"

"Then you should have thought about that before you invested all our savings in some foolhardy project!" Sandra snapped.

Martha threw Sandra a glare and, placing a hand on Rodney's arm. "Rodney, perhaps we should take a moment to calm down and think this through. Kelsey, darling, surely you can understand your uncle's desperation. Wouldn't you want to help him if you could?" Kelsey hesitated, her mind racing. She knew that Andrew was wealthy, and he cared for her. But the thought of asking him for a substantial amount of money made her feel uneasy. What would he think of her family's financial troubles?

"Well, Kelsey?" her grandmother pressed, her gaze stern. "Aren't you going to help your uncle?"

Kelsey forced a smile, trying to hide her discomfort. "Of course, Grandma. I'll speak to Andrew

as soon as I can."

"Do not say anything about bankruptcy. Only talk about a project that needs his attention investing okay?" Martha asked and Kelsey nodded

"You know what will happen if he thinks we are going bankrupt, right?" she asked and Kelsey swallowed. Of course she knew. Her engagement would be called off.

Rodney's face lit up with relief, "Good! You've always been such a good niece," he said, getting up from the ground as though he, a grown man was not just throwing a tantrum. Then, he pulled Kelsey into a tight hug.

Kelsey patted her uncle's back awkwardly. As she pulled away, she noticed that her Aunt and grandmother were also watching her, their expressions a mix of concern and expectation.

"I, uh, I should go call Andrew now," Kelsey said, slowly backing towards the stairs.

"Yes, yes, do that!" Rodney urged, wiping the tears from his face. "The sooner the better!"

Kelsey nodded and hurried upstairs, her heart pounding in her chest. She couldn't believe the mess this family had found themselves in. How was she going to bring this up? She and Andrew had never talked about money before.

As she reached her bedroom, Kelsey closed the door behind her and let out a heavy sigh. She glanced at her phone, which had been left on the bed, and couldn't help but feel a twinge of resentment towards Anya And Emma. If only her cousins hadn't caused so much trouble in the past, maybe she would have long been married and would not have to worry about offending

the Leslies.

Kelsey shook her head, pushing those thoughts aside. She sat on her bed and did not pick her phone. Even though she promised she would call him, she knew not to call. Obviously she did not want her family to go bankrupt, but she did not want to loose her marriage too. So she sat and waited.

Meanwhile, downstairs, the Jackson family remained in the living room, the tension was like a heavy blanket, at least for the two women. Rodney, on the other hand, had finally calmed down, it was as if the money was already on its way. He took a sip of juice while he sat to relax

without care.

Annie, Jasmine's manager, strode into the advertisement project's headquarters and made a beeline for Jimmy, the team leader.

"Mr. Lane, I need to discuss something with you regarding Anya Jones," Annie said, not bothering to make small talk or exchange pleasantries.

Jimmy looked up from the documents he was reviewing, a puzzled frown creasing his brow." Anya? What about her?"

"Well, you see, my artist, Jasmine, has expressed some... discomfort with Anya's presence on the project," Annie explained, carefully measuring her words.

"Discomfort?" Jimmy echoed, his face said it all. He looked completely lost. "I'm not sure I understand the issue."

Annie cleared her throat. "The issue is that Jasmine is the star of this advertisement, and she has made it clear that she would prefer not to work with Anya. I was hoping you could... make some arrangements to have her removed from the team." Jimmy Felt like cursing. He had worked with celebrities in the past. How could he not understand what they were trying to do?

"Removed? I'm afraid I don't have the authority to do that. Anya is a valuable member of this team, and we've been quite pleased with her work. Besides, Anya is a staff member of this company, even though I picked her for this project, I need to get approval to remove her." Jimmy was not sure what was going on, but he was not stupid. Anya was probably high up the

chain in the Shaw company. How could he dare to decide anything for her?

The manager's lips thinned into a disapproving line. "I thought you were an experienced manager or at least knew how things worked. Jasmine is the one bringing in the big money here, and her needs should be prioritized."

Jimmy shook his head firmly. "With all due respect, Ms. Tent, Jasmine is here to do a job, just like the rest of us. She is being paid. We don't need to cater to her every whim, especially at the expense of a valuable team member.'

No matter what, Anya was a valuable team member. He had received a notice from the her parent company that she was important. Even if she destroyed the set. His narrative is that she is a valuable team member.

Annie's expression darkened, and she crossed her arms over her chest. "Well, I can assure you that this matter will be taken up with the company. Jasmine is not going to tolerate Anya's presence, and one way or another, she will be removed from this project." As Annie returned to Jasmine, the actress's eyes narrowed. "Well? Did you get him to remove her?"

Annie sighed, her shoulders slumping slightly. "I'm afraid not, Jasmine. The team leader, Jimmy, refused to do so. He said he doesn't have the authority to remove Anya from the project."

Jasmine's face contorted in anger. She looked as though she had liked something sour. "What? Why not? I'm the star of this advertisement, and I don't want to work with that... that snake!"

"I know, Jasmine, I know," Annie tried to calm her. "I tried to explain that to Jimmy, but he insisted that Anya is some kind of valuable team member and they can't cater to your needs." Annie already Knew Jasmine's temper. She was haughty and hard to please. If not that she brought in a lot of money, Annie would have abandoned her.

"That's unacceptable!" Jasmine spat. "I want her gone, Annie. I don't care what it takes, just make it happen."

Annie hesitated, knowing that pushing too hard could backfire. "I'll... I'll see what Lean do. Maybe I can reach out to the marketing director and explain the situation."

Jasmine nodded, her lips pressed into a thin line. "You do that. And make it happen, Annie. I won't work with Anya Jones, end of story."

Nodding reluctantly, Annie stepped away to make the call, her mind racing with possible solutions.
