Elijah

POV

The whole day, I couldn't think of anything other than Sally. My heart clenched with guilt over the fact that I have to leave her there. But I knew that if I tried to talk to Alpha Richard about her, then the sick bastard probably use her to hurt me instead just for the fun of it. He was always one of my biggest tormentors in school, and now as Alpha he had the power to bully anyone.

He was the strongest wolf in this pack, so no one dared to challenge him.

During the morning I tried to get through my chores as quickly as I could. I hoped I would be able to sneak down to the cell blocks during my lunch.

When lunchtime came, I snuck out of the packhouse and went searching for her cell window.

When I got closer, I heard her crying and I almost ran up to the window.

I looked through the window and quickly drew back.

There was someone in the cell with Sally.

I peeked and saw Alpha Richard undressing her. Sally had her hands tied over her head and she was pleading with him to stop. Alpha Richard caressed her lower abdomen before his fingers trailed down and crept inside her panties. I heard Sally cry out in pain when his rough fingers touched her.

It felt like my whole being was about to explode from the helplessness that hit me. I had to do something.

I ran back into the house and gathered a broom and bucket of water. Once I had what I needed, I headed to the cell block.

When I walked down the stairs to the cells I made my knees buckle under me and I tumbled down the stairs with the broom and bucket.

The commotion interrupted Alpha Richard and he exited Sally's cell.

I tried to gather the scattered things as quickly as I could, but Alpha Richard kicked me across the face and I landed on my back with a groan. "You really are an i***t, aren't you, Ampel?"

"I'm sorry, Alpha." I coughed.

I looked up at him and saw that he was mindlinking someone. Then he smirked.

"I'll give you something to be sorry for." He threatened.

I glanced at the cell and saw Sally stare back at me. For a moment, the earth stopped spinning and all that existed were her beautiful green eyes.

I was brought back to reality when Alpha Richard pulled me up and dragged me out of there.

"I'll give you 20 lashes for being a clumsy idiot."

"I'm sorry Alpha, it was an accident." I rambled.

But it was no use. I knew better than anyone that Alpha Richard was one real sadist. He loved to cause pain and seized every opportunity he had to hurt someone. Better me than Sally, at least.

I realized that I couldn't stall him forever. Sooner or later he would go back to Sally to pick up where he left off.

So I prayed to the Moon Goddess with everything I had that he would leave Sally alone.

Once outside the packhouse Alpha Richard pushed me down to my knees.

This happened before.

A lot.

My father trained me to endure any torture he could come up with, so this punishment wasn't so bad.

But for the first time in my life, it was actually worth it.

"Take off your shirt."

I slowly pulled my shirt over my head, racking my brain. The big question was: How do I keep Alpha Richard busy so that he doesn't go back to Sally?

Pain rippled repeatedly through my back, but I gritted my teeth and focused on my plan to escape this place.

I was sure.

Being a Rogue must be better than living like this.

Alpha Richard threw the whip aside, signaling that he was finished.

I didn't know what to do.

Please Moon Goddess, help me.

"Alpha."

Beta Rafe approached us.

"I'm afraid your attention is needed elsewhere."

Alpha Richard growled and kicked me in the chest.

"If I haven't had my fill of that Rogue by the end of today, you will wish you were never born." He snarled.

Even though I was desoriented from the kick, I had to resist the urge to snarl back.

Sally was my mate.

Mine.

It took everything in me not to stake my claim on her right there and then, but this was not a good time for wolfish territorial behavior.

Guess the Moon Goddess heard my prayers after all.

I sighed in relief when they left and looked over my shoulder to examine the wounds on my back. They were quite superficial, so they would have healed by nightfall.

Though I feared we might had to leave a little earlier than I had planned. I didn't know when Alpha Richard would be back.

I quickly made my way to the toolshed and grabbed a sack. I threw a long rope, a saw that could cut through metal and a knife in the sack before walking out. After that I went to my room, grabbed a hoodie and stole two of Lucas' sleeping pills.

I snuck into a changing room and found a pair of boots that I threw in the sack. I noticed that Sally didn't have anything other than socks on her feet, and we wouldn't make it far if she had to go barefoot.

Next stop: kitchen.

I shattered the sleeping pills into a powder that I sprinkled on a muffin. The plan was to feed the prison guard with this first.

Placing the muffin on a tray, I went down to the cell block and approached the guard.

"I was asked to bring this for you, since you're working during the celebration tonight."

The guard nodded and I placed the tray on the small table.

I bowed before I left, crossing my fingers that he wouldn't taste the sleeping pills.

For the next hour I continued with my chores, checking to make sure that the Alpha hadn't left his office. After that I took the sack and made my way to the cell block.

I stopped and listened by the closest window and heard that the prison guard was snoring softly.

Relieved that my plan had worked this far, I dropped the sack by the window of Sally's cell.

"Sally?" I whispered.

She was still hanging by her wrists, her jeans bundled up around her ankles.

She flinched and looked in my direction.

"Elijah! Thank Goddess you're okay. I was worried about you." She whimpered softly.

"Time to go!" I grinned and pulled out the saw.

I started to work on cutting the bars with the saw. When there were only two bars left I managed to bend them to the side. I reached into the sack and untangled the rope, then hurried over to a tree and tied the end around it. I threw the rest of the rope into the cell, grabbed the knife and climbed down.

Sally was looking silently at me while I worked. When I reached her I cupped her cheeks in my hands. Sparks traveled up my arms, making my heart feel warm.

"Are you okay?"

She nodded.

"Yes, thanks to you. Thank you for getting him off of me. Did he hurt you?"

I smiled and kissed her forehead.

"I'm fine. Now let's go before the guard wakes up."

I pulled out the knife and cut the rope tying her wrists together.

Sally bent down and pulled her jeans up. She refused to look at me, like she was embarrassed that I caught her looking like this.

Looking closer at her body, I noticed that the wounds she had yesterday were still there.

They should have been healed by now.

"Your wounds, how come they aren't healed?" I asked.

"Wolfsbane." She said flatly.

"Are you in pain? Do you think you can climb?"

Sally burst into tears.

"I don't know. I'm sorry." She cried.

I shook my head.

"Don't be. I'll help you."

I walked over to the window and hauled myself up through the small window.

Once I was up, I stuck my head in though the window.

"Give me your hand and I'll just pull you up."

She looked at me with teary eyes and nodded.

I reached down and took her small hand in mine. Careful not to hurt her I pulled her through the window.

Once through, I pulled the boots out of the sack along with my hoodie. I wrapped my hoodie around her shoulders. She poked her arms through the sleeves and smiled at me. "What's next?"

Before I could answer, howls were heard in the distance.

The celebration had begun.

This was our chance to get out of here.
