The Blood Moon Twins -
Chapter 15
CAULDER
\tHarper was blind folded in the seat next to me as I drove the truck out of the city. She messed with her fingers as she anxiously awaited what was going to happen next. I had kept the date a complete secret from her, because I wanted to surprise her. I had never been the most romantic guy, but I knew how to swoon a girl. I planned on pulling out all of the stops to make her fall madly in love with me tonight. \tHarper pulled away from me and took her shoes off. She moved closer to the water and dipped her toes. She turned and looked at me with a bright smile. "The water feels wonderful. You should join me."
\tl laughed and rushed forward. "No way!"

\tl strode over to his front porch. "Oh nothing," I lied.

\tl walked down the street with the book about the blood moon in my bag. I had spent most of the day yesterday trying to muddle through the book before I decided it was fruitless. It was beyond my abilities. As much as I didn't want to reach out to Daniel for help, I knew he was my best chance for more information.
\tlt had been a long time since I had been to his house. The last time I had been there was for a research paper, but in recent years, I just used the internet when I needed information for school. This was different, though. The internet wouldn't have the information I needed on it. The magical beings of this world took great precautions to keep that kind of information away from the humans, so most of the information online was fake.
\tl paused as I reached the end of the street. Daniel's house was larger than most of the houses allotted for pack members. He was always doing research for the pack on who knew what subject, but my parents allowed him more space to keep his books. \tl was about to approach his house, but the hair on the back of my neck rose. The feeling was familiar. A strange presence enveloped me. I looked around, trying to figure out where the strange energy was coming from. I knew someone was watching me, but I couldn't see anyone else on the street or in the nearby woods. I couldn't explain how I knew someone was watching me, but I would bet all of my money on it. There was definitely an unfamiliar presence there.
\t"Is anyone out there?" I called out. The presence I was feeling was peculiar, but I didn't feel threatened.
\tThe bushes rustled nearby, but I still couldn't see anything. I started walking toward it.
\tThe door to the house opened. "Remy? What are you doing over there?"
\tl looked in the bushes a moment longer, but I still didn't see anything, so I turned my attention to Daniel. His hair was ruffled, and his skin was pale. He looked like he hadn't been outside in weeks.
\tl strode over to his front porch. "Oh nothing," I lied.
\t"Do you need something?" he asked. "I haven't seen you around in a while. How was your birthday?" Daniel clearly didn't get out much, and he hadn't heard the news of what happened.
\t"Something attacked the party, so it ended early," I said casually. I no longer cared that my birthday party didn't go as planned. My mind was much too focused on the future.
\t"Wait, who attacked the pack?" Daniel asked, borderline in a panic.
\t"Don't worry about it. It's all been taken care of, but if you want to know more, I'm sure my parents could explain better than I could. I do have some questions for you about blood moons though," I said. I wanted to make this visit as quick as possible. \tDaniel scratched his head, and I could tell he felt a little uneasy. "Blood moons, huh? Let's see if I have any notes about those. Let's go inside."
\tl followed him in, but before I entered the house, I glanced behind me one last time, and I could have sworn I saw a silhouette of a figure watching me.
