REMY

REMY

\tThe next day, I found myself eager to see Blade again, but I needed to be more careful. If Caulder caught me sneaking out again, it wouldn't be as easy to divert his attention to where I was going. I was lucky I had distracted him enough last night, but Caulder wasn't the type to let things go easily.

\tl would have to wait until it was even later to sneak out tonight, so he wouldn't catch me. I tucked pillows under my sheets to make it look like I was sleeping. I knew it was cheesy, and it wouldn't do much, but it would stop anyone who wasn't looking too closely. \tl kept checking my phone for the time, waiting for it to turn midnight. I was sure that it would be late enough to sneak out of the house undetected, even from Caulder. The moment it turned midnight, I booked it out of the house without any issues. \tl made it to the lake, and I fully expected Blade to be waiting for me. I told him I would return tonight, but I didn't see him anywhere. He must have thought I wasn't coming and left. My heart sank at the thought. My mind had been consumed with the idea of meeting up with Blade again. I couldn't get our kiss out of my head.

\tl picked up a smooth stone and tossed it into the water. I decided to wait for a little while, in case Blade still showed up. I had already come this far and had already risked sneaking out. I didn't want to go home empty-handed.

\tl picked up another stone to throw, but before I released it from my hand, a voice in my ear startled me. "I didn't think you were coming."

\tl screamed and chucked the rock right at Blade out of reflex, but the second I realized it was just Blade, my hands flew to my mouth.

\tHe caught the little stone with ease and examined it in his hands before looking at me. "A stone isn't going to do much damage to an enemy." He smirked at me as he twisted the stone in his fingers.

\t"You startled me. How are you so silent?" I felt flustered after poorly attempting to attack him.

\t"Vampires are creatures of the night. We were born to be stealthy, so we can stalk our prey." In the blink of an eye, Blade disappeared. I felt his cool hands on the back of my neck, which sent shivers down my spine. "We're fast, too. It's what makes us nearly impossible to deal with."

\tMy heart raced as his deep voice filled my ears. If he wanted to, he could easily snap my neck, and I would be defenseless to stop it, because I wouldn't have been prepared for him to attack me. It made it very clear to me just how dangerous a vampire could be, especially against someone who wasn't used to their speed.

\tl reached up and grabbed his hand with my own lightning reflexes. I leaned forward and used my body weight to throw Blade to the ground. He landed with a thud and was silent for a moment. This time I was the one who had caught him off guard. \tHe suddenly burst out into a fit of laughter, and it was a wonderful sound that brought an instant smile to my face. I walked over to him and offered him my hand. He grabbed it, but instead of standing up, he swiped his leg under me and sent me flying to the ground. I landed next to him, and he used my moment of shock to roll over on top of me.

\t"You continue to surprise me," Blade said as he looked down at me. His hands were on either side of my head, and he propped himself up, so he was hovering just over my body.

\t"As the alpha's daughter, I've been trained to fight and protect myself." I wanted to show Blade that I wasn't helpless. If I needed to, I could put up a serious fight against him, especially if I transformed into my wolf form. \t"What would you do to get out of this position?" Blade tilted his head, and the corner of his lip curled up in anticipation.

\tlf I wanted to, I would wrap my legs around Blade's waist and roll us over, so I was on top. It would give me more freedom to escape from him, but I didn't want to escape. "That's my little secret. If I tell you, you might stop me." \tBlade leaned forward, and I could feel his breath against my lips. "Then show me."

\tl didn't want to show him. I wanted to stay right there and close the distance between us instead, but I was frozen in place. His eyes held me captive, and my body ached for him to touch me.

\t"What if I don't want to?" I asked breathlessly.

\tBlade's eyes seemed to darken as he stared down at me. "You're making it nearly impossible to not take advantage of you when you look up at me like that."

\t"Is it taking advantage of me if I want it?" I wasn't normally this bold, but every part of me ached for Blade's touch. This had to be what it felt like to have a mate. Every breath, every touch set my entire body on fire, and my mind was clouded with thoughts of him. It was consuming and wonderful and dangerous all at the same time.

\tBlade growled as he pressed forward, closing the distance between us. My hands immediately flew up to his neck, pulling him flushed against me. The kiss was heated, despite Blade's skin being cool to the touch. I got lost in the moment with him, and I could feel the desire building between my legs.

\tUnlike Caulder, I had never been with anyone in an intimate way before. It wasn't that I didn't want it. I just didn't want the moment to be with some meaningless guy, and no one had ever wormed their way into my heart before. Blade was different. He hadn't wormed his way into my heart-he dove head first, making it impossible to stop thinking about him.

\tBlade grabbed my thigh, and pulled it up. He pressed himself against me more, and I could feel that he was just as excited as I was based on the hardness I felt pressed against me. My heart raced as every cell flooded with desire. I had never felt like this before, and it was exciting.

\tl slipped my tongue into Blade's mouth, and I felt his fangs beneath my tongue. Something about the sensation brought me back into the moment. I was kissing a vampire.

\tBlade sensed my sudden hesitation and pulled away. His chest heaved in rhythm with mine. "Are you okay?"

\tl started to sit up, and Blade shifted next to me. "Yeah. I just don't want to move too fast." I wasn't sure if that was a lie or not, since even as I sat next to him, my body wanted me to reach for his touch. But I still didn't want to rush anything because my body was filled with urges. \tBlade reached over and pulled a leaf out of my hair and chuckled. "Yeah, me neither."

\tWe sat there in silence for a moment, but it didn't feel awkward. Usually, silence between another person and myself made me fidget, but with Blade, I felt strangely safe. I reached over and grabbed his hand, but I refused to look at his face. I didn't want to see his reaction. He squeezed my hand, reassuring me he didn't mind the action.

\t"I've been thinking about it, and I think I should train you to fight against vampires," Blade said, breaking the silence.

\tl looked at him and tilted my head. "Why would you want to teach me that?"

\tBlade shifted closer to me. "Because I was able to track that creature here and replace you. If Draven does the same thing, I'm not sure you'll be safe. Werewolves and vampires have been enemies for as long as I can remember. I know werewolves can fight vampires successfully, but we have been separated for so long, I doubt you have had the training needed to deal with the speed of a vampire."

\t"If more vampires come here, I have to warn my family. I can't leave them in danger." The last thing I wanted to do was tell my family about Blade. I didn't want to risk them attacking him or forbidding me to see him. However, if there was any chance of their lives being at risk, I couldn't sit back quietly.

\t"I wouldn't expect you to. If you want, I could train others in your pack-if you think they would be receptive to my help." Blade seemed so genuine at that moment, and it made my heart swell.

\t"I don't know how they would feel about that. I could put out feelers and see if that's something they would be open to." My mother was already having Daniel do research on this vampire coven, so it was possible they already knew there was a looming threat, and I wouldn't need to say anything.

\tBlade lifted my hand up and kissed the back of it. "Until you know if they are open to it, I think I should start training you. What do you say?"

\t"Right now?"

\tBlade smirked. "Yep. Unless you're scared."

\tl jumped to my feet and scoffed at him. "You're the one who should be scared." I had trained for hours and hours of my life, but it had always felt like there was this obligation to prove that I was as good as Caulder. This felt different though. I was excited to learn more from Blade just for the sake of learning something.

\t"We'll see about that." Blade winked at me before standing up.
