The Bride Who Said No: Escaping the Shadows of Yesterday -
Chapter 123
Kieran slid the flyer across the table to Eloise, his voice laced with accusation. "You know about this, don't you?"
He wasn't naive. Eloise had jumped to defend those two immediately, making it crystal clear to Kieran that she was in the know. Eloise bit her lip, a silent admission.
Kieran's suspicions turned into sure thing. "Ellie, this is so disappointing."
Without another word, he grabbed the flyer and turned to leave.
"Kieran!" Eloise tried to follow but got stopped by Jarrett. "Ms. Harwood, please stay back."
Then, he, too, followed Kieran out.
Outside the academic building, Jarrett caught up. "Mr. Sutton, should we look for Ms. Dawson?"
Kieran, flyer in hand, looked even more upset. "No need!"
He had wronged Freya, but she hadn't offered a single explanation. Did Freya distrust him that much?
"Let's go."
"Go?" Jarrett was stunned. It was a misunderstanding destined to go unresolved.
"If she wants to play tough, let her," Kieran said, storming off.
Meanwhile, Freya was gently dabbing at Luna's cheek. "Does it hurt?"
"Yes!" Luna winced. "Why did Jarrett have to hit so hard? He seemed nice enough, but man, he really throws a wallop."
"You had it coming for hitting Eloise. Everyone in Echo City knows she's Kieran's weak spot. They've been inseparable since childhood, and Eloise is..." Freya trailed off with a helpless shake of her head
"I did it for you! Kieran is unbelievable Jumping to
conclusions without getting the facts straight. It's infuriating!" Luna complained, "Why didn't you set the record straight? Tell him Cindy and Mae started it with you!"
"What's the point?" Freya said coldly. "Besides, the more Kieran dislikes me, the better. I have no desire to become Mrs. Sutton." "Fair enough."
After the school nurse finished tending to Luna, Freya stepped outside and dialed Alison.
"Ms. Dawson?"
"Get me a lawyer," Freya said without preamble.
"A lawyer?"
"Some people at school are
spreading malicious rumors about me. And call the police. I'm note holding back this time. Crush them, understood?"
"Understood, Ms. Dawson."
After hanging up, Freya glanced at Luna, her gaze darkening.
Money and power did make a difference, ensuring justice and protection for those close to her.
That afternoon, the police arrived at Summit University, causing a stir among the students. "What's going on? Why are there so many cops here?"
