Freya quickly realized Preston was doing this on purpose! He ordered a rare steak to tease her, huh?

"Mr. Tyler, I think there are some things we need to clear up ahead of time."

"Speak."

"I had no clue about the crimes you've committed."

"Hmm."

"So, dragging me into this mess out of the blue, don't you think you owe me a foolproof plan to protect myself?"

"What, you mean if I end up behind bars, I should also clear your name?"

"I'm not guilty!"

"So, what are we discussing right now?"

Freya was well aware that Preston was feigning ignorance very cleverly. He was confident she wouldn't dare spit out the billion-dollar money laundering scheme. Once she did, she'd become an accomplice. And if this ended up in court, she'd have no defense.

"You!"

Seeing Freya's face turn red, Preston said with amusement, "Ms. Dawson, you claimed to be brave, and now, you're backing down? The world has always been about high risk, high reward. If you're scared, you'll get trampled on, a mere stepping stone for others. It's survival of the fittest. Ms. Dawson, you need to be stronger than Kieran if you want to call off the engagement. Otherwise, you'll have to return to playing the dutiful housewife once the wedding date arrives."

Freya understood everything Preston was saying. After her past experiences, she'd rather die than be an accessory to Kieran, someone he never truly cared for.

'Love yourself before you love others. If you can't even love yourself, how can you expect others to love you?'

"Mr. Tyler, rest assured. I will call off this engagement at any cost. I'll never be Kieran's wife."

Just then, Kieran arrived at the restaurant's entrance with his entourage. As Kieran stepped in, those words landed squarely in his ears.

Jarrett's face went pale. He hadn't expected Freya to utter such a statement.

And with veins throbbing on his forehead and a shadow of fury in his eyes, Kieran was a sight Jarrett hadn't seen for a long time. "What a firm refusal to be my wife," Kieran said sharply, making Freya stiffen.

She turned around, meeting Kieran's icy gaze head-on.

"I wondered why you were so eager to call off the engagement. It seems you've found someone else." Kieran was seething with anger. Freya had never seen him display such a demeanor. As Kieran approached her, she instinctively stepped back.

Kieran coldly said, "Is being the lady of the Sutton family so unbearable for you?"

It wasn't about bearing it. It was about outright rejection! Freya wasn't foolish enough to be sacrificed again for Kieran and Eloise's so-called love, nor was she willing to sacrifice her life for a love that only led to a laughable end.

Freya frowned and said, "Kieran, I should've made it clear to you from the start. I want to cancel our engagement." Her tone was calm, showing no signs of petulance.

After hearing this, Kieran's anger turned into a mocking laugh. 'Cancel the engagement? How many times has Ereya mentioned this before, and she never meant it.'

He always thought Freya was trying to grab his attention with these little acts. But Freya was telling him she genuinely wanted to cancel the engagement. Really?
