The Broken Wolf
Chapter 126

Anna brought us lunch and I managed to eat it, thank goodness. Seth insisted I take a nap after and I’ve woken, rolling over to replace Seth still working on his computer.

“Everything alright?” I ask, my voice hoarse.

“Yea, it’s fine. Just trying to get everything arranged for Jacob to leave his pack to train,” He tells me, closing the computer. “I’m thinking of having your brother’s Beta go out there to run it while he’s gone. He seemed like a decent guy.”

“He is,” I tell him with a smile. “But who will help Robbie?”

“Your dad,” he tells me, placing his hand on my stomach again. “The best option is to have your dad go, but I didn’t want him that far from you.”

“George will be a good choice if he agrees,” I tell him and he smirks.

“Well, let’s hope he agrees,” Seth tells me. “If not, I’ll just order it.”

I look at him, clearly upset that he’d force him to do that if needed.

“Molly,” he says defensively. “I don’t want to send your dad that far. What if something else happens? He needs to be closer.”

He has a point, I guess. I want to argue with him, but I suddenly feel nauseous. I close my eyes and take a deep breath. When I realize that’s not going to help, I attempt to get up and go to the bathroom, but I’m hooked up to everything and can’t move.

Thankfully, Seth realizes what’s going on and quickly grabs a wastebasket for me, placing it in front of me just in time for me to vomit into it. He takes it from me, placing it in the floor behind him and turns back around to hand me a water bottle.

“Thanks,” I say meekly, completely embarrassed.

“Is this normal pregnancy sickness,” he begins, “Or is this a reaction to something?”

I shrug. “I think it’s normal, but don’t know how to be sure.”

He nods once, walking out of the room with the wastebasket. He returns just a moment later, a nurse with him.

“Just want to check on you, Princess,” she says, walking over to me.

“Actually, would you unhook me? I need to use the restroom,” I ask her.

She nods and does as asked, but before I can stand, Seth is there, ready to help me. It’s kind, but I know he’s not going to leave me in there alone.

“I can do it,” I tell him, unsure if I actually can.

“Molly,” He says, knowing that I’m struggling after being in bed for so long now.

“Why don’t I help you, Princess,” The nurse says, and I’ve never felt more thankful in my life. “Prince Seth, just relax. I’ve got her. You don’t need to worry, I’ve been trained for this.”

Seth looks like he wants to object but when he looks me in the eyes he eases up and releases me, letting the nurse help me. I’m a bit unsteady at first, but after a few steps, I feel much more confident walking. My legs feel so weak, but I don’t feel as gross as I did when I had the antibiotics.

“He’s very worried about you,” she says to me as we enter the bathroom. “It’s sweet. I’ve heard the staff talking about how kind he is to you.”

“He’s amazing,” I tell her with a smile. “But he wouldn’t get out of the bathroom earlier. The best I got was that he was willing to turn around.”

She smiles at me, stifling a small giggle. “I’m going to step out and leave you. You seem pretty steady now, but don’t forget that you’re still hooked to the IV.”

I nod in understanding. “Thank you.”

Once done, I exit the bathroom to replace the nurse waiting for me right by the door, a grumpy Seth standing by the bed with his arms crossed. Clearly, he’s very unhappy she left me alone, but thankfully, he doesn’t seem to have caused a scene. I start walking, attempting to go to the couch but Seth quickly gets to me, trying to bring me back to bed.

“Seth, please,” I exclaim in frustration. “I’ve been in bed like 3 weeks!”

“It’s been a day, Molly,” he says, rolling his eyes and not moving out of my way. I feel like I’m going to cry when he reaches down, tilting my head back up. “As soon as the doctor clears you I’ll help you over, but you need the monitors for the babies right now.”

I take a deep breath, knowing he’s right, but I’m so tired of being stuck in bed. I nod slowly, holding back the tears as they both help me over. Seth releases me and moves pillows around so that I can at least sit up a bit.

Once I’m hooked back up, the nurse leaves us, and Seth sits back in bed next to me. “I know you don’t like to be confined,” he says, kissing my head. “Their heartbeats are getting stronger now. Hopefully it won’t be much longer.”

I nod, knowing that he’s right. I just want to go sit outside, though. Anna brings us dinner, and after I eat, I can barely hold my eyes open.

“Just sleep,” Seth says with a small smile. “You’re growing two pups. You need to rest.”

I nod, wiggling down and quickly falling asleep, comforted by the sounds of two tiny heartbeats, growing ever stronger on the monitor.

When I wake, Seth isn’t beside me. I sniff and look around, replaceing my parents sitting across the room, watching TV.

Mom looks at me and smiles. “Hey! You’re finally awake.”

I furrow my brow, looking over at the clock. It’s 10 p.m.

“Where’s Seth?” I ask and mom’s face falls a bit.

“There’s been an attack on some of the rogues,” Dad begins to tell me, both of them walking over to the bed. “Benjamin and Lily left to go back to take care of their pack and Seth is in his office working on some things.”

“Is everything alright?” I ask, feeling a bit panicked.

Mom nods and climbs in the bed, sitting next to me. “No one is hurt, thankfully. They tried to take a few she-wolves but Alex was able to get there and stop them.”

“Did he track where they were crossing the border?” I ask and dad shakes his head.

“It shouldn’t be that hard to track, now that we’re working with them. We know for sure it isn’t on our land, which only leaves where they border with Crescent Moon Pack,” Dad says, shaking his head. “They need to have someone follow them when the attacks happen.”

I nod in agreement. It makes no sense that after all these years, they still don’t know more than they do. “How much did Seth fill you in?”

“I believe we know everything,” he tells me and mom nods. “He called your brother, as well.”

I nod, thinking about the whole situation. “There’s a rogue working with them. They knew Benjamin was away.”

Dad nods slowly. “That’s something Seth is considering. He’ll need to cross in order to figure it out, but I don’t think Benjamin will have issues with that now. He’s warmed up to him.”

“Good,” I say with a smile, happy to know that he truly has warmed up to him and he’s not just acting that way for my sake. “Seth wanted to go to Crescent Falls once I’m OK to travel. Maybe we can just come and stay with you guys and he can travel wherever he needs from there.”

“We’d love that if that works for what he needs,” Mom says, laying her head on my shoulder. “The packhouse has been too quiet without you. It’ll be nice to have you home for a while.”

Seth enters the room, his eyes falling on my mom in bed with me and a smile comes to his face. “Did I hear we’re going to Lunar Falls?” he asks, c*****g an eyebrow.

“You need to go to Crescent Moon and the Rogue Lands,” I tell him with a shrug. “It would make sense to just stay in the middle.”

Seth chuckles. “I’d already thought of it, though I do notice that pregnant you isn’t trying to drag me to sleep on the ground in the rogue territory.”

Mom snorts. “I forbid that. You’ll be in the guest suite where I can come check on Cora and Andrew every day.”

“The doctor is coming in the morning to check on you. We decided that you looked good and didn’t want to wake you earlier,” Seth tells me and I frown. I would have been fine with that if it meant moving around on my own. “I told him we might need to travel. He’s going to consider the options and we’ll head there soon if he says it’s safe.”
