The Bully's Hated Mate
The Bully’s Hated Mate – Chapter 16

CASSIA’S POV:

Myla started to pick up something, a sound coming from somewhere.

With sleep heavy eyes, I cracked open an eyelid, deciding whatever was making noise was actually bothersome and a hindrance to my sleep.

As I opened an eye, I couldn’t believe what it was I was staring at.

I opened both of my eyes and sat up straighter than a pen. The window was opened.

Normally, it had to be opened from the inside but how was that possible when we were both asleep-

I looked towards the bed and my eyes widened in shock; it was empty.

Where was Lucius?

I stood up now panic, spreading through my chest in fast waves. I checked the bathroom and again, it was empty.

Why I was getting worried about the s**t face, I didn’t know.

I stood, facing the bed, wondering if maybe he took a stroll and if he had been taking strolls like these since and I just never noticed.

It was an odd thing to do in the middle of the night. I walked back towards my sleeping corner when the sound I had heard before came back.

I looked towards the window as the evening breeze swayed the regal curtains to and fro.

Curiosity beats drums in my ears as the sound seemed to get louder and louder, like scrapings on a wall.

I decided if it wasn’t going to stop, then I would just have to know what was making the sound.

I walked towards the arched window , the curtains still being swayed and the wind making the window rattle a bit more than usual.

I approached the window. It’s curves stretching far up above my head, making me appear taller than I was.

The open window created such a gaping hole, enough for me to haul out my whole body and my wolf, all in one throw. It was that wide and that huge.

I didn’t know what it was I was hoping to see, but I was going to take a peak and lock the window as fast as I could.

I got to the wide windows, crunching down to avoid being seen as a whole and avoiding anything that might decide to harm me from the outside.

With shaky breath, I merged my body with the frame of the window, popping my head to take a peak, and I gasped.

I stood up immediately.

“Lucius!” I shouted from the other side of the window.

I had seen Lucius struggling to climb back through the window. He had gotten stuck trying to climb with a branch that was outstretched.

There was an oak tree that was situated at the center of the castle. It’s branches stretched far and one of the branches directly led to one of the wide windows situated in the castle.

Out of all the windows, this was the one it led directly to.

He was panting heavily, inches away from the frame of the window. Myla kept looking at the frame, worry doing justice to her as she g*****d.

Lucius wasn’t looking good at all. He kept gasping for breath and while I was beyond worried, I needed to bring him back to the bedroom.

I started to look for anything that I could use to drag him inside. He was a hand stretch away from been pulled into the room.

However, he was bigger than me. I didn’t know if I could entertain the risk of lifting him into the room with my slim frame. The best motive was to let Myla help.

“Lucius. Can you hear me?” I asked.

He g*****d in response.

“You’ll have to trust me, Lucius. Okay? Stretch out your hand.” I asked him.

Honestly having doubts if what I wanted to do would work anyway, but basing my last two percent on hoping it would.

My plan was to change and use my fangs or my claws to drag him into the room. The change was incredibly painful. I could use another method.

I looked to the bedroom again, hoping something would click and I would replace a better option, and then it hit me.

The sheets.

I took them all, ripping the sheets from the bed with an added force. Myla was panting and pumping me with reforced energy because she knew I was going to need it.

I began to tie the ends. All in all, I had four bedspreads — one end was tied to the bed frame and another was held in my hands.

I would need to climb down and tie his hand with it before climbing back up and dragging him.

I hoped it would work despite having a ninety nine reason pop in my head on why it wouldn’t work.

I got to the window and luckily, Lucius had done as I asked. Hissing viciously as I approached where he laid on the branch of the tree.

I had miscalculated.

He wasn’t within armsreach. He was a bit above center of the branch, it was going to take a bit more than just strength. He was going to trust me.

“Lucius!” I said immediately I was close to him, both of us now on the same branch.

The branch was extremely sturdy, so I had no doubt that it was going to hold us. But I had my doubts on something else.

Looking down, it was quite far, and a drop from there would cause some serious damages.

I was going to have to be extremely careful.

I didn’t want to look at the obvious reasons why Lucious was aching and hissing.

I just kept my focus screwed tight as I tied the bedsheet on his outstretched arm and around his waist. Lucious hissed some more, his eyes being closed.

“Please, don’t look down and hold the sheets with both of your hands. Okay? I’m going to get you inside.” I said, not minding if he heard me at all or not.

I began to climb back into the room.

I knew, for some reason, I couldn’t have anybody knowing what was going on.

So with precision, I took steps back, and with Myla pumping me with her energy, I began to drag the bedsheets towards myself. I heard the pull as I dragged it. I had been right.

Lucius was heavier than I thought and by goddess, I was so much lighter in weight.

I pulled and pulled little by little, no fear arising with the branch.

I kept pulling for what seemed like eternity, beads of sweat matting my hair line and perspiration dotting my back.

I pulled until the next thing I saw where his hands. I kept pulling till half of his body crossed the window.

Lucius was unconscious now.

My heart beat twice as fast. I quickly hurled him inside, creating a thud that made him crack his eyes open as his back hit the floor boards.

I was relived.

I untied him and threw a shoulder over mine, helping him to walk to the bed. With another force, I got him to sit.

He had more sweat than I did with dirt marking territory on his face, underneath his nails and his clothes.

For the first time, I took him in. He had on clothes I had never seen before and his mouth had dried b***d on it.

His left eye had a darkening on it, like he had been punched and his knuckles were red and bloodied.

Had he been in a fight? My mind raced as he touched his side.

My hands instinctively went there, trying to help him out of his clothes, so I could see the damage that had been done. He shifted his hands and his side from my prying grasp.

He didn’t want me touching him.

That made no sense, I had just gone through alot trying to hurl him into his own bedroom, and he’s bothered about me seeing his skin?

The same skin I had seen several times counting. It was childish and frankly, I was vexed.

I went to the bathroom, soaking his towel with the hot water that flowed endlessly through the showers and with a stiff back, walked back towards him.

He had his eyes closed and his lips pursed. Myla could tell that his mind was somewhere else. I took in all of his injuries and I was tempted to ask.

I put the bowl down, and kneeling down, I touched the towel to the place injured around his face.

He winced so much, his closed eyes flew open with an anger I had never seen him possess.

“What do you think you’re doing?” He asked, bis fingers digging into my palms, hot water trailing my underarms.

“You’re hurting me!” I shouted, not just from his grip but the hot water that had made a map on my arm as well.

Like as if he was no longer under a spell, he let me go and I stood up immediately.

I didn’t know if I should help him or let him suffer while I got back to my sleeping position. I still had a few more minutes to dream up something wonderful behind my eyes.

I decided I was going to help him.

As I approached again, his eyes opened up and his stare was that of sincere anger. I stopped in my tracks, not knowing if he was going to grab me by the arms or if I was going to be thrown out of the window.

“Let me, please” I whispered softly, hoping Myla pleaded better than I ever did.

He seemed to think it through before giving a slow nod. I began to clean his features and press the places that eemed a bit swollen. All the while, his arm never left his side.

I was done with his facials, and I again reached out to help him with his side and he grabbed my arm again, bringing me dangerously close to his face.

“I’ll do it myself.” He said through gritted teeth, that I knew wasn’t just from anger but from exhaustion and pain.

I didn’t know how long we stayed like that. Towel in my hands, his hands on mine and my face close to his, but I started to see the crystals that decorated his iris in tremendous ways.

Something was cackling and happening, we were drawing so close to each other.

My heart going at a fast pace, my breath becoming faster and my eyes dropping. I was getting intoxicated by his husky scent, his features that only seemed to become more evident in this moment.

“Leave the towel.” He said, breaking the spell that had us bound.

I cleared my throat, standing up and feeling stupid at the same time. I dropped the towel and watched him stand up, take the towel and go straight to the bathroom.

I emptied the contents of the bowl from earlier, placing his sheets back in his bed and making it for him. I heard the shower come on in the bathroom.

He was going to be okay, I yawned after I was done with everything.

Who knew taking care of Lucius would be so tasking?

I suddenly craved my bed space, at the same time wanting to wait for him when he emerged from the bathroom.

I decided to just lay down on the bed and when I hear the soft click of the door, I would spring up and try to help him again.

If he needed my help, that is.

As I sat on the bed, my eyes started to drop, Myla was yawning too.

Taking her strength at an emergency like that was certainly draining. I made a mental note to help Lucius immediately he got out of the bathroom once I could get some shut eye.

I couldn’t hold myself any longer as sleep over took me and the darkness welcomed me.
