The Bully's Hated Mate -
The Bully’s Hated Mate – Chapter 42
CASSIA’S POV:
I had watched Marcus being dragged towards the palace. I had screamed and cried but nobody stopped dragging him — nobody stopped to hear what I had to say.
I was escorted back to the palace where I had to stay in my bedroom with guards stationed outside my doors.
I was left alone in my bedroom, to my thoughts and to my tears, images of Marcus being dragged out like a petty thief etched into my mind.
I hadn’t seen Lucius since the occurrence and frankly, I was glad that I didn’t lay my eyes on him.I hated him so much at this point. It was only fair he left me here alone to cry my eyes out.
There was no way I was going to stay in my room all day, as my worry burned through me like leaf to a fire. I needed to see Marcus, I needed to know that he was alright.
I made up my mind that I was going to go and see him where he was been kept later this evening and nothing was going to stop me from going.
As the evening breeze hizzed through my windows, with no sign of Lucius I got dressed and made mysekf both presentable and available.
As I emerged, the guards stood ground, I was glad they didn’t make an effort to stop me from where I was going and if they had managed to, it would have caused a big scene.
As I walked towards the dungeons, as best as I could remember from the tour I was given the last time I was there, I used my sense of smell to locate Marcus and as I walked towards his direction, I gasped in horror.
Maids if different kinds were all kneeling on the floor, wiping and scrubbing very last bit of smudge if the b***d trail Marcus had left behind. My heart ached profusely that he had been badly hurt but that didn’t stop me.
I continued to all until I got to the dungeon gates where five different guards stood, like a barricade to the gate.
It irritated me that they would so fiercely guard the dungeons of a man they felt was a criminal, a man whose only crime was looking out for me. It was irritable.
I knew getting to where he was, was not going to be easy but mentally, I had accepted to use my status as the future Luna of the pack to make them give me access.
The word ‘future luna’ brought a distaste to my lips. I hated the word ‘future luna’.
I looked at the guards, waiting for them to leave as j would expect but when they didn’t budge, I realised the worst growl I could muster, shocking me and everyone else.
Maya was angry while I was distraught and she had a temper I knew first hand.
I walked down the stairs to where he was been kept and surprise gutting me like a fish when I realised there were more guards stationed down here, all of who simultaneously led me to where Marcus was been kept, deep in the dungeon.
I gasped when I saw his face. Swollen to the size of a rope papaya, my breath left my chest as I noticed that he had more or less a peephole to see as his face had been given a new shape.
He had been beaten badly by Lucius and as I watched him take rugged breaths, each one of his deep breaths scaring me for his last, I hated Lucius even more.
I fell on my knees when I realized he was kept in two cages, one cage kept everyone out and the other cage kept him in and there was no way for either one of us to touch the other.
I wanted to cradle Marcus and tell him how sorry I was, how pained I was that he had to go through all of this at the mercy of Lucius.
I was angry all over again nd before I knew it, my so s started to ring out of my lips alerting Marcus that I was here.
“Cassia?” He asked. I was happy that although his face was bloated and splattered with broken red vessels, his voice was still ok.
I badly wanted to hold his hand and let him know I was here.
“Marcus. I’m so sorry” I said, my sobs taking a good percentage of my voice as I cried out even more.
“I’m so sorry you had to go through this” I said again, my tears trailing streams down my face as I continued to weep even more.
“No cassia. It’s alright” he said, trying to sound cheerful. How the hell could be even kind cheerful a little, I was the reason why he was in here in the first place but that got me to stand on my feet and quickly wipe my face.
“How are you? Are you been treated ok?” I asked, even though technically he was in alot if pain, I just wanted him to not feel awkward.
I started to ask even more questions as I babbled , concern growing thick in my voice. I perfectly scrutinized his body for any out wounds and I found quite a few. I took mental notes that once I exited this place, I was going to fetch all of the nurses at the infirmary to make sure he was given the best medical care, at least that was the least I could offer.
I finally stopped with the questions and noticed that ven though he had his face all swollen up, his sense if direction was apt as he turns his head towards my direction.
I breathed a shaky sigh as a question bugged me to no avail.
“But why on Earth would you go after Lucius? What made you do it? Lucius is stronger than you, faster than you, well trained too. Why?” I tried not to shout as the question slipped off my lips.
He mumbled and g*****d, said somethings but nothing be aid as either making sense or been audible.
I heard it before I had seen it, all of our heads were turned in the commotion that came storming down the steps in hurried footsteps. I could recognize two people in the midst of the crowd that approached us.
I saw everyone bow instantaneously as the Alpha walked in hurried and angry strides towards where Marcus and I had been.
I saw Lucius and instinctively, my anger flexed an even bigger muscle.
“Is this him!?” The Alpha’s voice boomed, ricocheting across the stone walls of the dungeon, inviting fear deep in the guards bellies.
“Yes! Sire.” A man answered from nowhere. I was struck by confusion, what the hell was happening right now?
I mentally asked myself.
The alpha pushed everyone out of the way and with a force I have never seen, ripped the first cage off it’s hinges and tore the second one open.
Gasps rang out in hushed tones, my eyes bulged out of its sockets as the alpha morphed into the biggest wolf I had ever seen. His fur as black as night with a streak of grey, dotting his paws and ears and without warning roared so deeply, you didn’t need to know he was the alpha, his roar did it for him.
I watched as Marcus whimpered, his knees already bloodied, his face already swollen contorting in pain as his knees bent on their own accord, kneeling to ascertain the Alpha’s untouched dominace without opposition.
Everyone had their heads bowed but I had mine stand in shock and just as he had morphed into his wolf form, he transformed back to himself, clothes still on him.
His snarl seemed to deepen and Marcus whimpered even more.
“You dare! Come into my premises and attack the prince and his mate!? You dare!!” He roared again, anger making headway as Marcus kept whimpering, his head touching the floor to show his defeat but the alpha wasn’t seeing that.
“For this single act! You shall face the penalty of treason, your bones shall bask in the sun and your skull would be used to serve the dogs! You are hence forth to be put to the death. We shall round off the year, having you executed for all and sundry to see!” He boomed.
My heart stopped beating as I looked between Marcus to the Alpha to Lucius, I begged Lucius with my eyes as he took a glance at me, and with shame he bent his head.
“No!” I screamed and all eyes turned on me.
