The Bully's Hated Mate -
The Bully’s Hated Mate – Chapter 51
LUCIUS’ POV:
I have been away for quite some time but the refreshing feeling I have every time I stepped into this place, was the same.
It was as though this place was the only place where I could get rid of my problems but only that today, I wasn’t getting rid of a problem. I was sharing something special.
We walked in and people noticed immediately that I had arrived, instinctively I drew cassia to myself as the stares of the males here were piercing. As if she sensed my discomfort, she linked her fingers with mine and deep down I smiled.
“Hell’s fury!! He’s back!” Someone roared from nowhere and I kept my head straight and my steps even straighter. I may not have been here for a while but I knew when I was due for a match and right now, I was beyond due.
“Didn’t he leave?”
“He’s back?”
“A champion at last!”
People spoke their minds as they drank their wine, without boundaries. I wondered at this point what cassia must have been feeling hearing these names crawl out of their lips.
Would she be proud or would she be disgusted?
“Hell’s fury!” I heard a mascular voice shout out in the crowd. I turned instinctively, knowing it had to be none other than me.
“Hell’s fury. We need you!” He managed to get out of his throat. He was breathing hard currently, as though he had just chugged down a whole litter of water.
I nodded to him, casting a look at cassia for the first time since we stepped into the cave together.
“What do you need?” I asked him and immediately we started to walk towards a spot I knew very well.
The arena.
I squeezed Cassia’s hand tighter as we made way, pushing forward to the judges table. I already knew why we were going there but I was doing this to show cassia this side of me properly.
“Hell’s fury is back! We should pitch him in” the man seemed to say to the judges who had round bellies and stout legs, a cigar hung form one of their lips and the other wore a hat.
The man with the cigar puffed smoke three times before he cleared his throat.
“I don’t see why not” he shrugged, giving off this chill vibe even though he was supposed to be very serious judging from the fact that he was an important person here.
“I don’t think so” the other with the hat said, his vibe clearly against me.
“I mean, he doesn’t show up here in weeks and we’re just supposed to pitch him in? It doesn’t work that way” he said. Of course, he had a point and all but I wasn’t about to beg my way in and I didn’t want to either beg or stand here looking like an i***t with no work and business here. I came here to fight not to cheer.
“Sir. We have no body else, skull’s called and he’s not coming in today. We need a fighter and hell’s fury is a fighter!” He made his point.
The man with the hat wasn’t having it and the guy with the cigarette started to make me wonder who’s idea it was to give him just a position here.
“Sir! It’s now or never!” The man seemed to shout even more to elaborate what was required.
The man with the hat threw up his hands in the air and the cigarette man smiled with smoke coming out if his lips like a chimney.
“Fine! Goddess!” He swore under his breath and swipes his hat as though it was a nose.
“But he fights with devil’s bones! No argument. Either that or he’s free to get lost” he said, his teeth meshing with each other as he made his point. At first the man’s eyes widened in surprise and then he resigned to my fate.
Here I was, standing still with no words erupting from my mouth as I had just signed my fate to my undefeated foe.
I wanted to count my limbs and my toes but I had cassia with me, it was going to have to be enough.
“Deal?!” The man shouted at me from where he sat, looking up at me for the first time since he began his conversation.
I didn’t bother to think about it, I gave a Curt nod and cassia squeezed my hands a little bit too tight.
The man began to walk back to the main areana, whispering to the bell ringer as we walked there.
I faced cassia and out her hands to my lips and kissed it, an action to show that I valued her.
I saw the fear in her eyes but when I kissed her hands, I saw the reassurance. It was everything I needed.
“Ladies and gentlemen!! Today’s a good day!” The man from earlier stood, tall and broad as he bellowed out the words to the now forming crowd.
“We are gathered to witness and event like no other!!” He shouted again and some people began to nod their heads.
Cassia and I were already at the front of the crowd, holding hands and my heart was beating in anticipation and anxiety drew streaks in my veins.
“Today’s fight will be unlike any other! You will be wowed and you will piss your pants I can assure you!” The crowd were already cheering. People surprised me everyday.
“Today’s fight would be between the mighty and weighing two hundred and ninety pounds!! He’s ripped, he’s big, he’s a giant!! A champion you’re not a stranger to!! Devil’s Bones!!” The crowd cheered so much, my ears gave a ring after they quieted down.
A gigantic man, a man I knew so well and who I had only fought with once and lost to. A loss I had to make sure I was drunk for. The first time I noticed Cassia’s caring attitude towards me. I knew him and deep within me, Damon growled so wild, I had to hush him to keep cool.
The crowd cheered a bit more, their screams running wild and people singing his praises.
Devil’s Bones raised up his hands in victory as he cheeredhis fans even more.
I knew my turn was coming and I carefully gave cassia a last squeeze as I stepped away from her.
“And a champion that has our hearts!! The master!! An unknown that we all know!! His fury that precedes him. His fury that we cherish!! Weighing two hundred and fifty pounds, he may be small but he is mighty in fury! Hell’s fury!!!” I was sure either his vocal cords had decided to disintegrate or my ears decided to do the honours with the way the crowd cheered so much.
I found myself walking smoothly into the arena and I took one last look at cassia as she confidently occupied the space we had both shared seconds ago.
I raised up a hand in appreciation to the hundreds of people that were cheering nonstop now. I felt this passion fire up within me as devil’s bones started to circle around me.
Big puffs of air was emitting from his nostrils as he circled around me. I was ready to show him what I was made of this time and not the last time that we fought.
“Now!! Normally we have the regular match but since today’s special we have this special match with it’s special rules” the man screamed even louder, my attention was split.
What did he mean by special rules?
“The fighters are allowed to use their added strength from their wolves and their free to use whatever form they require” he said and my heart sank.
Normally my wolf was black and majority of the wolves here was black but I had never fought anyone in my wolf form Nd something told me that dipshit over here was going to use his wolf to his advantage.
I was starting to reconsider my last decision, not even caring that the crowd was agitated and that devil’s bones was no longer circling me with a killer glare directed at me .
A second too late made me realize that I didn’t hear the bell ding for the start of the match.
I was blinded by the heavy blow landed on my jaw, I felt my jaw shift and pain jolted through the point of contact stopping at the side of both temples.
I g*****d in pain as I started to see the world tilt, Cassia’s image was the last thing I saw before I hit the earth.
“Stand up!!” I heard her yell in a strangled and pained voice.
Something about the way she screamed threw me off balance, all of a sudden all I wanted to do was to stay on the ground with my eyes closed.
