The CEO Wants To Divorce Me -
Chapter 120
Within seconds Arabella had devised the perfect plan of revenge. She pretended to be moved and said in amazement, "What you said..." She paused, as if to laugh at herself. "How could Ezra ever fall in love with me? It's just a way to stop feeling guilty." Adam sensed Arabella's hesitation and he immediately struck while the iron was hot, "Mr. James' excellent ability at work is indeed impeccable, but he is rather slow and inarticulate when it comes to relationships." "Miss Ruth, Mr. James's sincerity to you is beyond question."
Arabella lowered her eyes, shaded by thick, slender lashes. She listened to Adam's words without even showing any emotion, which made Adam even more uneasy.
If Adam could seize the opportunity to intercede with Arabella on behalf of Ezra, then he can successfully solve Ezra's problems of the past five years and end his nightmare.
The hallway was silent, Adam's eyes were fixed on Arabella, he was so nervous that he could only hear his own exhilarated heartbeat.
For a moment, Arabella lifted her eyes. Instead of apathy, her eyes were filled with slight excitement. She took a deep breath, as if making a big decision. "I'll ask him myself."
Adam couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief as he smiled, "It's best if Miss. Ruth can think straight. If Mr. James wakes up and knows you're willing to give him a chance to explain, he'll be very happy."
Arabella, who was very familiar with acting, sensed Adam's fatigue and said with concern, "Adam, you have worked so hard to take care of Mr. James all night, why don't you go back to rest first, I will take care of Ezra, if there is any unexpected situation, I will contact you immediately."
Adam intended to create a chance for the two to be alone, he nodded, "It's not hard, it's the most delightful thing for you and Mr. James to lift the misunderstanding and be together again, I'll go first, Miss. Ruth hurry up and go in."
Arabella smiled faintly and watched Adam disappear at the elevator entrance, she turned around and walked into the ward, standing quietly at the head of the bed, looking coldly at the unconscious and emaciated man on the bed, the hatred in her heart was restless and nearly overwhelmed her sanity.
It took all of Arabella's self-control to stop the urge to strangle Ezra while she had the chance.
"Ezra, even if you die, you can only die by my hand!"
Arabella's hand hung in mid-air, slowly approaching Ezra's neck, she narrowed her eyes, a vicious light erupted in her eyes, and the next second, Arabella strangled his neck with force, her five fingers tightened violently.
Ezra's face turned red, his breathing became rapid, and his hand with the hanging needle moved, and the struggling force made the medicine bottle crackle. Buzz!
A string in Arabella's head snapped, and the demonic tentacles deep inside seemed to be shocked by some force, quickly hiding and returning to their place.
Ezra opened her eyes at this moment, Arabella had already withdrawn her hand. She stood on the edge of the bed like nothing was wrong, looking at Ezra. Staring at each other, Ezra froze. Wasn't he dreaming?
Arabella was standing in front of him.
Ezra, with a feeling of apprehension, carefully hooked Arabella's fingertips.
The fingertips were hot, he wasn't dreaming!
"Arabella!" Ezra yanked her wrist, brutally pulling the person into his arms, his crazy joy made him unable to think carefully, he kept calling her name, wanting to rub her into his own flesh and blood.
The close physical contact made Arabella feel sick, she tried to calm down the urge to beat Ezra up hard. She said hypocritically, "You just woke up, pay attention to your body, lie down first, I will not go, I will stay here with you." If it were yesterday, Arabella, who hated Ezra to the core, would definitely not have said these words to him.
Even if Arabella's purpose for coming here was to further humiliate him, he wouldn't have complained half as much, at least Arabella was willing to see him instead of avoiding him.
Ezra felt satisfied. His hands tightly grasped her wrist, and his eyes glistened with light. He almost couldn't wait to ask, "Arabella, are you willing to forgive me?"
Arabella did not answer his question positively, "Ezra, I have something to ask you, and you must answer me truthfully."
Ezra could not read Arabella's mind, he could not help but feel his heart tighten, "Go ahead, I will not lie to you again."
Arabella said word for word, "Ezra, do you love me?"
The pupils shrank, Ezra looked at her in shock, the sudden acceleration of the heartbeat almost rushed out of his chest, dry and pale thin lips quivered. His voice was loud, but his expression was unusually painful. "Arabella, I know that I have done a lot of wrong things and I am a jerk. I do not deserve your love anymore, but I can say without any guilt that it is you that I have loved from beginning to end."
Regardless of pride, fame or wealth, Ezra just wanted to do his best, with the most sincere heart, to speak to Arabella.
"So..... would you like to give me another chance to pursue you again?"
Arabella looked at him calmly, without a trace of expression.
The room was silent, and the atmosphere gradually returned to cold.
The joy rising in Ezra's heart gradually fell to the bottom, the corners of his lips hooked up with a touch of bitterness, sitting on the hospital bed in dismay, "I'm overthinking it, I did too many wrong things, how can you forgive me easily just by saying a few words of confession."
"I know all about it." Arabella burst out.
Ezra looked at her in confusion.
Arabella continued, "Adam told me that you already know all the truth, that you haven't had a good time in the past five years, that you couldn't bear the fact that I left, that you tried to drink to forget, and that you almost died in a car accident a few times." Her eyes were tinged with a touch of wetness and she said bitterly, "Ezra, I hated you, I wished I could kill you. But you don't know that even though you were hard on me, I couldn't forget you for the past five years, I tried many ways, but I couldn't do it." Ezra's heart was beating wildly. Desperate for another answer, he blurted out, "So why did you stay with Noah Hall? Why didn't you come back to me?"
Arabella paused for a moment, "Noah Hall is indeed pursuing me, but I didn't say yes, for now he and I are just close friends."
Faced with this question, Ezra became timid, "Really?"
Does this mean he still has a chance?
Arabella nodded, "I don't have to lie to you now."
This exact answer did not make Ezra happy, but bred his strong possessiveness. He enjoyed the pleasure of being in control of everything. "Arabella, how about not accepting other people's feelings?"
"I want to make it up to you, I want to see you all the time, will you come home with me?"
Go home?
Arabella's stomach cramped and her eyes went cold.
She doesn't have a home anymore.
The beautiful family she had tried to create had been destroyed by Ezra's own hand.
What had happened in that "home" was a memory she did not want to recall in her life!
Ezra sensed Arabella's abnormality and realized that she might be recalling some painful memories. He hugged Arabella and said solemnly, "Arabella, I promise you that everything that happened in the past will never happen again in the future." Ezra's promise was like a pile of gorgeous objects, shiny and eye-catching on the outside but unable to withstand touching.
Arabella would not repeat the same mistake, and had no faith in his current promises.
Yet staying by Ezra's side was the fastest route to completing the plan, and Arabella agreed to his offer.
"I do."
