Chapter 168
It was like the air had frozen for a moment.
Dorothy waited for seconds but still didn’t hear his voice. She asked tentatively, "Everett?"
"I'm coming to pick you up now." He answered.
"Okay."
Putting down her phone, Dorothy heaved a sigh of relief. She felt she wasn't afraid of any obstacles in her future anymore.
Suddenly, she made up her mind that as long as Everett didn't back down, neither would she.
She felt much lighter after making that decision!
Dorothy didn't feel tired even if she didn’t sleep all night. She got up, changed, showered and even put on a bit of makeup.
When she walked out of her room, Karen was just stretching. Looking all bedraggled, she was surprised to see her.
"Where are you going?"
"Everett's coming to pick me up."
Karen was stunned for a moment, "So you've figured it out?"
Dorothy nodded, "Yes, you're right. I should live for myself. He's given up so much for me; if I keep backing down, I would be letting him down."
"Absolutely!" Karen was so excited that tears were almost welling up in her eyes, "Dorothy, remember that you deserve a good man! You deserve to be cherished! Mr. Lopez obviously sees your worth!"
She walked over and hugged Dorothy tightly, "Dorothy, you must be happy!"
"Okay!" Dorothy took a deep breath, "I will."
She knew if she missed Everett this time, she would never replace another man who would treat her like this.
She really wanted to keep this feeling of being cherished forever.
When Everett arrived, Dorothy was still hugging Karen!
It wasn't until his call came in that they reluctantly separated.
She picked up her bag and walked out, each step felt light and excited.
She was still a bit shy when she saw Everett even though they had done everything together.
Everett strode over as a natural movement and took her bag.
Dorothy coughed lightly, "Um... don't you have to go back to the office today?"
"Kevin will take care of things there. I haven't slept all night and want to go home and rest." His voice was hoarse and his handsome face showed obvious signs of fatigue.
But as long as Dorothy asked, he would definitely pick her up without a doubt.
"Oh." She lowered her head and followed him, not expecting him to suddenly stop.
And she bumped into his back just like that!
"You don't want me to take the time out of my day to get a divorce with you, do you?" He asked her.
"No, no, I was just asking!"
Everett raised an eyebrow and finally caught on, "You don't want a divorce anymore?"
"Yes." Dorothy nodded with a smile, a bit coy, "You have been so good to me, giving me care and trust. I will be so ungrateful if I insist on divorcing you."
A hint of a smile finally appeared on Everett's chiseled face.
This was probably the only time he had been genuinely happy recently.
He raised his hand and patted her forehead, "You finally realize you're ungrateful."
"It's your fault. Why don't you let me know what you're doing?" Dorothy looked at him, "You should have told me about the Sino Success Enterprises project."
Everett was taken aback, "How did you know?"
"Jeffrey came to see me and told me everything you did."
