Aurelia had barely settled into the apartment when Leopold arrived, a dark scowl on his face.

He had seen Arnold's car parked outside the building.

“Weren't you supposed to be at Sunbeam Retreat with your mother today?” he asked.

Aurelia settled into the couch, picking up a cherry from the bowl on the coffee table. After chewingthoughtfully, she finally replied in a casual tone, “Arnold has to leave for Starhaven tomorrow, so Iwent to his villa to wish him well.”

A stifling frustration welled up inside Leopold, a feeling he couldn't swallow or spit out. It made himirritable and restless. “When did Arnold become more important than your own mother?” hegrumbled.

“My mother was the one who told me to go. She always says that family supports you at home, butfriends are your support when you're out in the world. I'm lucky to have a friend like Arnold. I wantto maintain our friendship,” she said, trying to maintain a serious tone.

Leopold's eyes narrowed dangerously, glaring at her as if he were about to breathe fire. “Friendship?You must be joking!”

Aurelia swallowed hard, summoning the courage to meet his gaze, her eyes sparkling with a hint ofdefiance. "Why do you always get so mad when I'm with Arnold? You're not...jealous, are you?”Leopold was taken aback, but quickly denied the possibility in his mind. He didn’t have feelings forher, so how could he be jealous? His annoyance was purely because of her deceitful nature, herconstant disregard for his words. He detested women who played such games!

“Don't flatter yourself, Aurelia. You're like a poison to me. Even if you were the last woman in theentire

Aurelia felt like she had been physically hit, her spine stiffening. She knew very well that he didn'tlike her. It was just that he had been teasing her recently about being jealous, so she wanted tofight back, to fight fire with fire!

“Feeling’s mutual,” she mumbled, barely audible. But Leopold heard it, and it only served to fuel thefire

inside him.

“You are an infuriating woman!” She had the ability to drive him mad in a matter of minutes!Aurelia’s fingers tightened around the couch, her eyes lowered, casting a shadow of sadness on herpale face.

“Maybe after the babies are born, I'll leave Astral Enterprises. That way, you won't have to see meanymore.”

If Evelyn became the CEO's wife in the future, even if Aurelia were to become a director, shewouldn't have a good life. It might be better to switch jobs sooner than later.

Leopold felt an unexpected tug at his heart. “What are you talking about?”

She lifted her gaze, raising her voice, “I said, after the babies are born, I'll disappear. Out of sight,out of mind.”

His heart jolted, as if struck by something. His usual poker face paled a bit! It was the word“disappear” that he had been dreading lately!

“You're not going anywhere!” He grabbed her by the shoulders almost violently, pulling her into hisarms and kissing her fiercely.

"Um..." She was taken aback, trying to push him away, but his strong arms held her tightly,restraining her.

She was at his mercy!

He didn't understand why he was acting this way. The thought of her disappearing, of not beingable to replace her again, sent him into a state of confusion and fear! It was all because of that damnednightmare he had recently. It was affecting him greatly!

Aurelia was losing her breath, her head spinning, her legs were like jelly.

His kiss was wild, passionate, and domineering, as if he wanted to consume her body, heart, andsoul. He had to admit, he was addicted to kissing her. Her pure scent, her sweet lips were like adeadly poppy; once you had a taste, you couldn't extricate yourself, only wanting to sink deeperinto the intoxication.

After what felt like an eternity, the shrill ring of a cellphone shattered the intimate atmosphere.

It was Leopold's phone. He was extremely agitated and didn’t want to answer, but the phone justwouldn't stop ringing.

He glanced at the caller ID, it was Evelyn.
