Chapter 284

Seeing Leopold exit the diner, she seized the chance to respond.

[Sorry, Arno, mom's been grounding me from my phone lately. Couldn't respond to yourmessages. I'm doing okay now, no need to worry.]

Arnold responded quickly. [Glad to hear you're alright. I'm still in Starhaven, wrapping up a fewshoots. I should be back in a couple of weeks.]

[I'l wait for you.]

[Promise me you'll tell me if something's bothering you or if you're unhappy. Don't keep it toyourself]

[OK]

Aurelia looked up to replace herself under a massive shadow. Startled, she turned to replace Leopoldstanding behind her, his eyes dark and cold as he stared at her phone. His face was as dark as astorm cloud

She shivered. “I...I thought you went out?”

When did he come back?

Leopold ground out between clenched teeth, “You were hoping I'd leave?”

“No,” she recoiled. “I'm going to check on the kid.” As she stood up to leave, he swept her into hisarms and strode out of the diner, heading upstairs.

Her face went pale from fright. “Put me down!”

An icy aura radiated from Leopold, wrapping around her and making her feel as though her bloodwas freezing.

He kicked open the door to their room and unceremoniously tossed her onto the couch.

“So, you couldn't wait to get your phone and text Arnold?”

She cuddled up with a pillow, curling up like a snail trying to hide in its shell.

“No, I saw he messaged me and just responded.”

He towered over her, his gaze sharp as a blade as he scrutinized her. “Are you so eager to divorceme so you

can be with Arnold?”

“The divorce was agreed upon before, it has nothing to do with Arno. Even if he wasn't in thepicture, we'd still divorce. You don't even like me,” she stuttered, her voice barely a whisper. ButLeopold heard it.

His anger boiled over. “What part of you is likable?” Every aspect of her annoyed him.

Aurelia felt as though she'd been stabbed in the back. She shrank back, her self-esteem crushedunder his

words.

“I know you despise me, so I thought it'd be considerate to ask for a divorce, to get out of yoursight.” She lowered her gaze. She was terrified of his anger, his temper. But no matter how sheacted, it seemed he was never satisfied, never happy. Being disliked felt like being a mistake. As ifeven breathing was wrong.

Leopold's eyebrows knitted together, his chest rising and falling heavily as if a storm was brewinginside. “I do despise you. I despise you a lot!” He said icily. He despised her double-faced nature, how she entangled with Arnold, how she could easily affect his mood and make him lose control...But what he despised the most was how she kept bringing up divorce!

Aurelia flinched as if she'd been hit, a tear trickling down her cheek.

Even though she knew how he felt, hearing it from him always hurt twice as much, making her feelas if a knife had pierced her heart. “Then let's get the divorce as soon as possible!”

He gritted his teeth, clenching them so tightly that it took a long moment for him to force out thewords, “Fine, Ill grant your wish! All you need to do is one thing, and you can get your divorce!”2/2
