Chapter 289

A storm of emotions raged in Aurelia’s heart, refusing to subside.

She remembered Leopold's words: Every accident might hide a conspiracy!

After leaving the doctor's office, she immediately went to the maternity ward to replace the nursewho assisted in childbirth that day.

The nurse happened to be on duty. She recalled, “The second child cried once and then stoppedafter being born. Dr. Karol said the baby had inhaled amniotic fluid and was in bad shape. Sherushed to the ICU immediately. Since you had passed out, my colleague and I stayed with you inthe delivery room, fearing something might happen to you. As for what happened in the ICU, wehave no idea, only Dr. Karol was present.”

Aurelia wandered into the elevator in a daze, with Jolin following behind.

Knowing that her daughter was still struggling with the grief of losing her child, she could onlygently comfort her, “Don’t think about it anymore, Aurelia. You can still have more children in thefuture.”

Aurelia cast her eyes down. According to the nurse's description, there didn’t seem to be anythingsuspicious. Everything was a regular procedure.

The baby did cry once. Was it her inability to let go of her child that kept her restless and lost inthought?

Karol was dead. Even if she made a mistake during the rescue, what could be done about it now? With these thoughts, she let out a heavy sigh.

Jelena texted her: [Aurelia, congratulations on completing your recovery! There's a pajama partytonight, want to come and have some fun?]

Aurelia wasn't keen on going as she wasn't in the best mood, but Jolin saw this and advised her,“Go and have some fun. The baby has Laura and me to look after her and we have plenty ofbodyguards at home. Don't worry.”

Jolin was worried that Aurelia would not be able to move on from the loss of her child and washoping that going out and having some fun might help relieve her sorrow.

After some hesitation, Aurelia agreed.

After dropping Jolin off at the villa, she headed to the party.

Surrounded by mountains and clear waters, it was an ideal vacation spot.

This time, Jelena came alone. Since it was a pajama party, there were no men.

Aurelia put on a warm cartoon frog pajama set, looking utterly adorable.

Jelena looked her up and down and clicked her tongue, “You've recovered remarkably well. There'sno sign you've just had a baby. You're back to your youthful self.”

Aurelia smiled, “I've been doing postnatal yoga every day, so I recovered quickly.”

Just as she was speaking, she saw Evelyn descending the stairs in a black silk nightgown, lookingincredibly seductive.

Upon seeing Aurelia, a glint of malice flashed in Evelyn's eyes. The thought of “Destiny’ soonsurpassing the sales of “Eternal Love’ filled her with resentment towards Aurelia.

This woman, with no real talent, was simply good at creating a buzz and courting public favor.Holding a glass of champagne, Evelyn approached Aurelia with a forced smile.

“Long time no see, when are you planning to return to work at the office?”

“I've already discussed it with the boss. Starting next week, I will be working from home.” Aureliareplied with a nonchalant smile.

Evelyn swirled the champagne in her glass, “Destiny” is selling well. I initially thought you wouldcompete with me in terms of design, but it seems you're more focused on peripheral aspects.”Aurelia offered a faint smirk, “It's simply a creative idea. As a designer, I need to generate profits forthe company. It's not just about artistry, but also marketing strategy.”

Currently, the hottest trend on Facebook was sharing Destiny card matches- an indirect form ofadvertising that attracted more consumers out of curiosity to purchase “Destiny’.

Evelyn sneered, “I still believe that a designer should focus on the design itself, not create gimmicks.Consumers will recognize who is genuinely

sincere,”

Just then, Nellie, the daughter-in-law of a catering tycoon, approached with a plate of pastries, “Imade these pastries myself. Have a taste!” The aroma of pastries wafted over, causing Evelyn tocover her mouth and retch. “I'm sorry, I...ugh...”

Nellie quickly placed the pastries aside and looked at Evelyn in surprise, “Evelyn, you're notpregnant, are you?”
