Leopold stood up, “Melissa, Aurelia is my wife, and I hope you respect her.” With that, he walkedupstairs.

Aurelia sighed, “Do you know why I don't want to be the matriarch of the Stirling family? It'sbecause there are so many women who want to bring me down. Aurelia lowered her voice, “Promise to keep it a secret.”

Beverley nodded fervently, zipping her lips shut. “I promise.”

Aurelia whispered, “I saw Megan yesterday on New Year's Eve.”

"What?" Beverley was shocked, her eyes and mouth wide open.

"Are you sure it was her?”

Aurelia took out her phone and showed Beverley the painting she had drawn, “Does this look likeher?”

Beverley nodded vigorously, “It's her, definitely her. I heard she was wearing a red dress when shedied.”

While she was talking, a chilling wind blew through the garden, carrying a spooky air that

Aurelia rubbed her arms. Ohosts in red dresses were a common trope in horror movies.

“It's strange that she would appear now, almost six years after her death.”

“Does Leopold know about this?” Beverley asked.

Aurelia nodded, “I told him, but he doesn't believe it. He thinks someone is impersonating Megan.But who could look exactly like her? She didn't have a twin sister, only Evelyn.”

Beverley chuckled, “Leopold is a staunch materialist, and he wouldn't believe in these things. Hedoesn't even believe in tarot.”

Aurelia shrugged, “He didn't witness it himself.”

Beverley leaned in, whispering, “There's another possibility. She came for you. That's why you couldsee her.”

“For me?” Aurelia was shocked. “Why would she come after me? We had no grudges.”

Beverley said seriously, “You took Leopold from her. He loved Megan the most, even after she wasgone. He never had a girlfriend until you came along. Now you've taken her place, and she’s nothappy about it.”

Aurelia was speechless. How could she possibly replace Megan in Leopold's heart?

Megan was his first love, so she was irreplaceable to him. His feelings for Aurelia were nothing morethan liking, nowhere near love.

“Do you think I should hire a psychic to help her get peace?
