Chapter 401

Evelyn suspected Leopold had grown tired of her, especially since he was keen to send her awayafter her sister returned.

As she mulled over this, Aurelia’s voice echoed again. “Surely, you don't think I'm the only woman inLeopold's life, do you?”

Evelyn was slightly stunned. “He has other women? How did I not know?”

Aurelia chuckled. “They're all hidden shadows. No man of the Stirling family is ever faithful in love. Idon't care much if you are with Leopold. If your sister takes my place, I don’t think she'll allow youto be his mistress. She stole Leopold from your hands, and you are the first she'll guard against.”This last sentence instantly sent Evelyn's

resentment soaring.

In her eyes, Aurelia was no match for her. She didn't give a shit on any woman like Aurelia, who hadno money, power, or a strong background. Aurelia was no threat.

She had successfully elbowed Aurelia out once, and she was confident she could do it again.

As for Megan, it was a different case altogether. Evelyn had never won against her. Megan was thegolden child of the family, and their parents were partial to Megan. Undoubtedly, they would go allout to support Megan this time. She was Evelyn's biggest adversary.

“Aurelia, I do pity you,” Evelyn mused. “You're weak and no match for Megan. She's a combinationof cunning and innocence. You can't defeat her.”

Aurelia pulled out a bottle of water from her bag, took a sip, and retorted, “Pot, meet kettle. You'rejust as bad off against her unless you can dig up some scandal from her missing six years to useagainst her.”

Evelyn's face clouded over. Aurelia's words reminded her of Megan remaining silent about whathappened during those six years. She was determined to uncover any skeletons in her sister'scloset.

Upon returning to the Stirling Mansion, his son, Kane, immediately approached Leopold. “Daddy, isMommy coming today?”

On hearing it, Leopold's heart gave a painful lurch.

Would Aurelia even come back? From then on, he would have to sleep alone, lingering in theshadows of loneliness.

Struggling, he managed a response. “Mom... will visit when she can.

Kane's penetrating gaze bore into him, full of doubt. “You promised you wouldn't remarry.

Are you going back on your word?”

Leopold stiffened it was the first time his son had looked at him with such an accusatory gaze andspoken with such a condemning tone.

“I have my reasons. I will keep my promise to you.”

Kane was confused Wasn't his father divorcing his mother to marry another woman?

you divorce Mom, she'll never come back. You'll regret it.”

Leopold bent down to rub his son's hair and said, “Kane, you have to trust me. / won't let youdown.”

Kane looked puzzled but decided to trust his father one more time, believing he wouldn't doanything rash

Just then, the butler’s voice echoed from the foyer. “Mrs. Stirling is back.”

Kane's eyes lit up. “Daddy, Mommy is back.”

He excitedly ran downstairs and threw himself into Aurelia’s arms. “Mommy, I thought you weren'tcoming back.”

Aurelia picked up their son, kissing his cherubic face., “This is my home. Of course, I have to comeback.”

Would she just hand her home over to the other woman?

She ascended the stairs, passing by Leopold without a glance, ignoring his presence entirely.

Her husband and marriage were no longer worth her attention. But for the sake of her son, shewould hang on with it no matter what
