The CEO’S Unplanned Heir novel (Aurelia and Leopold) -
Chapter 459
Chapter 459
Every word she spoke was like a sharp dagger, ruthlessly stabbing into Leopold's heart.
He feared a repeat of the tragedy three years ago but was compelled to hide the truth from heronce again.
“You may not trust me, but you have to protect yourself, stop acting recklessly. As long as you aresafe, I can solve any problem. It's just a matter of time.”
Aurelia’s heart was tossed like a ship in a storm by his words. She wanted to tru feared getting hurtagain.
him, yet
“Don’t worry, I won't risk my life foolishly anymore. If someone's going to die, it'll be the enemyfirst.”
If she were to die first, who would protect her children?
She stood up from the sofa and said, “If there's nothing else, I'll get back to work. The bonus thistime should be double, right? Everyone's waiting for the victory party.” Leopold's lips twitched into ahalf-smile. Even after achieving financial freedom, her money-loving nature hadn't changed at all.Stepping out of the office, Aurelia was consumed with thoughts about Katie's child. Leopold, theevasive one, neither admitted nor denied anything, leaving things ambiguous. Surely, he himselfwasn't in the dark? Was a paternity test necessary?
Truth be told, Katie, the internet sensation, was quite endearing. Innocent and harmless, notsomeone she could hate. Not like Megan, always up to no good.
Over the weekend, Aurelia visited Emma and her children at the company apartment.
Emma had moved in with her daughter the day before. While she was at work, two nannies lookedafter her children.
Upon seeing Aurelia, Margot and Bella immediately jumped from the sofa and ran towards herexcitedly.
They adored Aurelia, who often took them to toy stores and let them pick any toy they wanted.Today, Aurelia had brought fruits and their favorite Barbie dolls.
The girls were over the moon and couldn't wait to unwrap the boxes.
"Aunty Aurelia, this is our new home, without daddy and grandparents,” Margot said in her childlikevoice.
Aurelia gently patted her head and asked, “Do you miss your dad and grandparents?”

“No.” Margot shook her head without hesitation, “I like our new home.
“I like it too,” Bella said slowly, her speech still a little unclear due to her young age.
Aurelia sighed inwardly. Children, though small, could clearly perceive the malice of adults.
Just like her, she had never liked Perla from a young age.
Emma handed her a bottle of juice. In the past, Aurelia was the person she envied and despised themost. Now, she was her savior. Without her help, she wouldn't have been able to get this apartmentor the nannies for her children.
I feel relieved now, no longer having to bear the sight of Perla’s ugly face.”
Aurelia smiled and asked, “When you moved out, didn't they ask for living expenses?”
“They're not here; they went back to Pebblebrook. Perla’s precious little brother caused a trafficaccident, injured someone, and injured himself: They rushed back to take care of him.” Emma's tonewas laced with mockery, “Her preference for boys must be genetic. I heard that her mother had sixgirls before finally having a boy. The whole family spoils him, just like Ritchie. He's a grown man, buthe’s idle and always causing trouble.”
Aurelia sneered inwardly. The shadows of one’s family were the most terrifying. A rotten beamcouldn't prop up a building, and people from dysfunctional families often had character flaws.“From now on, think more about the children and don’t worry about them. Ritchie works as asecurity guard in a high-end office building. His salary and bonuses add up to more than 2000dollars. It's enough.”
She had helped him replace this job, but Ritchie's family never showed any gratitude. Instead, theycomplained that she didn’t do enough and should even pay their mortgage.
Ingratitude for favors often brought on a grudge, and these words had never been truer.
After taking a bite of a strawberry, Emma spoke in a low voice, “Would you accompany mesomewhere later?”
“Where to?” Aurelia asked.
She leaned in and whispered a few words into her ear. Aurelia said, “Alright, let's go.”
