Megan broke into sobs, “I know you blame me, for forcing you to divorce Aurelia and marry me. Butit wasn't my idea, and I was helpless too. I love you so much, so how could I ever hurt you? Aureliagetting infected with the superbug wasn't my doing, and I don't have such power.”

Leopold's eyes darkened slightly, “Who did it then?”

“It was the people from AK Group. They were the ones who tried to assassinate you,” Megan wept,her face wet with tears, “Do you know what I've been through these past six years? You werepoisoned, lying in the ICU. I was trying to replace the antidote to save you, and I was looking for theassassin. I never expected that the culprit wasn't an individual, but an organization. I fell into theirtrap and was held captive. I was injured and lost my memory. They smuggled me out of thecountry, kept me in a dungeon, and starved me if I didn’t obey them.”

She stifled a sob, continuing, “It wasn't until six months ago that I regained my memory. In order tocome back to you, I agreed to their every demand. They even infected me with a virus. Like Aurelia, Ineed to inject an antidote every month to survive. If I refuse, I'll die. Marrying you was theirarrangement, and I don't know what they're up to. I had no right to refuse.”

Leopold's expression softened slightly, “Do you know who their boss is?”

She shook her head, “All I know is that everyone calls him Arthur. He's only appeared on screen,always wearing a mask and using a voice changer. You don't have any mortal enemies, so it's possible someone wants to take over yourposition.”

Leopold's expression darkened, and then he asked, “Who's been contacting you?”

"Her name is Vicky, the owner of the Twilight Club. AK Group operates in a single line, so I don'tknow anything about the others. If I could replace Vicky, I could replace out who's above her.”

Megan clutched Leopold's sleeve, “I originally planned to investigate secretly and tell you the truthonce I found out who Arthur was. But I can't stand you misunderstanding me anymore. Leopold, I'mwilling to be your inside agent, to help you replace Arthur and eliminate AK Group. For you, I'm willingto do anything, even if it means sacrificing myself.”

Leopold looked at her deeply, his gaze sharp and cryptic. He raised his hand and gently stroked herhead.

“I want you to always be the Megan I knew, and don’t change.”
