Chapter 221 Do You Not Know Why She Avoided You
After ending the call, Lysander immediately kept her phone in her bag.
“It’s getting late, Dr. Sutton, I should head back.”
Only a few balls were left on the pool table.
Zachary had already lined up his shot, poised to strike the ball.
He straightened up and asked, “Are you in a hurry? Why not wait for me to finish this game with Dr. Sutton? It won’t take long for us to replace out who’s the winner.”
Lysander mentioned, “My parents will start to worry if I stay out late.”
“Just a few more shots. I promise it will be very fast.”
Adrian chimed in, “We can decide who’s the winner next time. Dr. Thorne is right, it’s very late now. Let’s continue the game another day.”
Upon seeing the situation, Zachary went with the flow and put down his cue. “You’re right. Dr. Sutton, we’ll pick up our game next time we get the opportunity.”
“No problem.”
Lysander left hastily. Zachary grabbed his jacket and followed after her, cautioning, “Don’t rush as it’s getting dark. Mind your step.”
When Lynn returned, Adrian was the only one left by the pool table.
She scanned around and asked, “Dr. Sutton, where’s Dr. Thorne?”
“She’s gone home.”
“Huh? We’ve only been here for a short while.”
“I think she’s got a curfew to observe.”
Lynn chuckled, saying, “Yes, that’s right. By the way, Dr. Sutton, your girlfriend has also left. I searched everywhere for her. Initially, I was informed that Ms. Sarah had gone to the restroom. Despite checking all of them, I couldn’t locate her. It was only after asking the bartender that I discovered she had already departed. Why didn’t she inform you before leaving?”
“Perhaps there’s an emergency.”
Adrian spoke in a casual manner as he finished the game by himself, pocketing each of the balls.
Lynn sensed something was amiss but couldn’t quite put her finger on it.
In the end, she gave up. “Since they have both left, how about a one–on–one between us?”
Adrian raised his brow, asking. “Just wait for a while.”
Lynn asked in confusion. “Why do we have to wait?”

“I’m waiting for someone.”
“Waiting for whom?”
At that moment, a chill swept through the room.
The bar’s door swung open forcefully, allowing a rush of cold air from outside to flood the room.
Annoyed, Lynn exclaimed, “Why is he here?”
Adrian cast a glance at Josiah, looking travel–weary form his journey. He was still in his formal attire, suggesting he had rushed over from the company.
“Where’s Lysander?” he asked, panting.
Adrian laughed and replied, “Hiding.”
“Why is she hiding?”
“What do Cou think?”
Josiah fell silent.
Adrian had just finished the game, with the last eight–ball elegantly rebounding into the middle pocket.
“Mr. Guerra, care to have a round of pool?”
Josiah’s expression was cold and stern. “Do you think I’m in the mood for this?”
“Fine. I’ll play on my own.”
Having said that, he proceeded to arrange the balls himself.
Afterward, he leisurely started a game of snooker.
Josiah glanced at Lynn, who stood beside him, and asked, “Where’s Dr. Thorne?”
“Why should I tell you?” Lynn wasn’t friendly to him at all.
“What should I do to make you tell me?”
“I won’t tell you no matter what.”
Josiah felt a surge of annoyance, but considering that Lynn was Lysander’s most valued disciple and also her assistant, he refrained from arguing with her. Instead, he persisted in bothering Adrian.
Adrian meticulously calculated the trajectory and friction. With a precise strike, the white ball collided with the red ball, causing it to glide smoothly between the black ball and the brown ball before settling snugly in the corner behind the black.
What a perfect game of snooker!
The ball was hidden seamlessly.

Nobody knew if he was referring to the pool shot or Lysander.
Josiah’s patience was about to run out. He questioned once more, “Where on earth is Lysander?”
