Chapter 281 Specific Instructions From Josiah

Zane anxiously said, “What report? There’s none, really.”

“What were you busy with on your phone just now?”

“I was checking the map.”

“Oh, what kind of place has such a long name? You’ve been typing for over ten minutes.”

Zane’s face turned red, and he chuckled wryly. “It’s really nothing. I just came over to greet you guys. We just met and haven’t really spoken much, I don’t want to seem impolite.”

Daphne laughed. “Ha, okay. Nice to meet you.”

Zane breathed a sigh of relief, then turned to Lysander. “Dr. Thorne, hi, have you played pool before?”

Lysander shook her head. “No.”

“Oh, it’s okay. If Yvonne continues to be annoying later, just ignore her. I’ll take you to the bar instead.”

“What can you do there that’s fun?”

“Nothing much, but you can order drinks there.”

Daphne gave him a hard pat. “I understand now. Josiah sent you to be her bodyguard, didn’t he?”

Zane, with a look of disappointment, asked: “Is it that obvious?”

“Of course! You suddenly come over to say hello; anyone who isn’t a fool could guess it, right? I’m not Yvonne, who clearly is an idiot.”

Zane frowned. “I can’t figure it out either. What is she trying to achieve with her actions today?”

“Alright, no need for you to play the bodyguard. Lysander has me. You go and do your own thing.”

“No, no, no, let me do it. You go play with Yvonne. I’m really scared of her now, she just attacks indiscriminately. I can’t afford to provoke her, but I can avoid her.”

Daphne pursed her lips. “You’re abusing your role. Josiah asked you to protect Lysander, but you’re actually just taking it easy. I need to talk to him about this. He’ll deduct half of your salary.”

Just as they were talking, Aiden came over, holding two beers in his hands.

“What are you guys doing? Let’s go have fun.”

Zane shook his head vehemently. “I’m not going. I’m going to have a drink with Dr. Thorne.”

Upon hearing this, Aiden understood that it was an “order” from Josiah, so he said: “Alright, then you guys go. Daphne, shall we go?”

Lysander nodded, indicating that she was okay, so Daphne responded, “Let’s go. I will absolutely not show mercy today.”

“Take it easy, milady…”

“Take it easy? I’m not going to allow her to behave with impunity. Aiden, you’re being a bit unfair here, aren’t you? You’ve been broken up for over a decade and you’re still protecting your ex-girlfriend? What’s this, is Yvonne also your first crush?”

Aiden was on the verge of tears, but none came out. He put down his beer and covered his ears. “Daphne, please stop nagging. I beg you….”

Daphne’s target was not Aiden, so she went straight to Yvonne and asked, “Want to play a round?”

Yvonne finally withdrew her gaze, the look in her eyes shifting from affection to burning rage. “Fine, whoever loses today will throw themselves out of here.”

Daphne started to take off her coat and roll up her sleeves as she spoke. “That’s too boring. Why don’t the loser crawl out instead?”.

“Fine. It will be a crawl then. You had better not cry later.”

“Hahahaha, I’m not necessarily going to be the one crying today, my dear…”

The two women started their showdown. Aiden could only clasp his hands together in gratitude to the heavens above. He obediently sat on the side, playing the role of a beer girl plus a cheerleader. He would cheer for whoever that scored and behave like male escort.

“Dr. Thorne,” Zane called out.

Lysander came back to her senses. “Hmm?”

“What would you like to drink? I’ll go get it for you.’

“Anything will do.”

“Josiah specifically told me that you can’t take cold things. Shall I ask them to make you some ginger

tea?”
