Chapter 450 I Want To Hear The Truth
Seemingly wanting to confirm something, he fixed his gaze intensely on Lysander.
Lysander nearly laughed out of frustration. “You’ve been going on about Adrian all day. What on earth has he done to upset you this time?”
The smile on Josiah’s face faded, and he took a step back, putting some distance between them. “Two tigers can’t share one den, yet Aiden has two big brothers. I simply can’t stand him.”
“Oh, so all this fuss was because you were jealous over Aiden?” asked Lysander with a sneer.
Josiah was at a loss for words.
I know you’re surrounded by women, but since when were you into men?” Lysander continued teasing. frowning when she recalled the television series Daphne watched online about two men dating each other.
It wasn’t because she was old–fashioned. She just couldn’t stand watching those shows for personal reasons.
Josiah quickly denied, “What are you talking about? That’s not what it is! Seriously, what have you been learning from Daphne?”
“I’m not interested, but I respect her preferences.”
“I don’t care what she likes. Don’t watch those with her.”
Lysander’s expression softened, and when she spoke again, her tone sounded solemn. “By the way, I saw you at the private restaurant with Lysander and Tiffany.”
“So?”
“Who do you really fancy? Once you’ve made up your mind, stick to it and don’t give the other one false hope.”
The subject of her words was vague, but Josiah still grasped her meaning and nodded. “Who do you want me to stick to?”
“You’re the one choosing, not me.”
“You can say whatever you want, but the final decision still rests with me.”
Lysander took a deep breath. “I don’t want to pry into your personal affairs. It’s just that I can’t help but sympathize with Tiffany upon seeing the state she’s in. After all, I experienced the exact same thing.”
Josiah’s expression became serious when he heard that. “This is the reason you wanted me to treat Tiffany well?”
Lysander replied, “That’s because I understand how she feels. You both insist that the past is the that you’re just friends, yet the three of you end up going out for dinner together. Any girl will feel uncomfortable.”

I’ve already explained this to you. I had absolutely no idea what Lysanne was planning to do, let alone the fact that she wasn’t even Mr. and Mrs. Thorne’s daughter.”

Josiah nodded. “All right, you go ahead.”
Wistfulness surfaced in Lysander’s gaze as she stared into the distance. Although she was looking at Josiah, she seemed to be glimpsing into the past through him.
“After we got married, you were really good to me. I felt quite fortunate to have met you. So, when the truth came out, I was indeed quite upset. I still remember how I felt at that time.” As time passed, Lysander no longer felt anything when bringing this up again. Not a ripple of emotion was stirred in her heart, and she spoke as if she were recounting someone else’s story.
The sky outside had gradually darkened. Tonight was a rare clear night, and moonlight filtered through the bars on the security windows, casting a soft glow on the living room floor.
Lysander lowered her gaze to look at her and Josiah’s shadow, taking a sidestep to separate them completely.
Josiah didn’t notice her subtle movements. His voice trembled as he confessed, “Regardless, it was indeed my fault back then. I mishandled things and hurt you.”
Lysander waved her hand dismissively, “It’s okay. I no longer dwell on the past. Living in the present is what truly matters now.”
Josiah’s heart clenched. “Then why are you still telling me all this?”
Lysander calmly explained, “I don’t want to see the tragedy that once occurred to me replay on someone else. If you’re marrying Tiffany just to form a business alliance with the Lanister family and not because you truly love her, I hope you’ll think this through carefully. Our marriage was like that too, devoid of love and based solely on convenience. You are already aware of how that ended. Tiffany is younger and more naive than I am, so she will inevitably fall deeper. Even someone as cold–hearted as me was upset back then. How do you think she would react?”
After hearing her words, Josiah pinched the bridge of his nose, troubled. “You seem quite concerned about Tiffany, though I don’t recall you two sharing a deep connection.”
Lysander spoke honestly. “We’ve only met a few times, so it’s not like we’re close friends or anything”
“You’re being way too nosy.” He scoffed.
“I’m just afraid she’ll repeat my mistakes.”
Josiah suddenly put on an air of indifference. “It’s too early for you to draw conclusions. What makes you so sure she’ll end up hurt?”
Lysander met his gaze and asked, “So, are you serious about Tiffany this time?”
This very question had infuriated Him and made him storm out in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Under normal circumstances, people referred to his reaction as a display of anger born out of embarrassment.
As expected, Josiah fell silent.
Lysander got to the point, saying, “I can tell that Tiffany has a soft spot for you. She’s not like me. I can live well without love, but she can’t. If you don’t love her, don’t treat her too well. It’s cruel to give her hope and take it away.”

She paused for a moment before adding, “Of course, if you can keep up this act in front of her forever. then disregard what I said today and take it as me being nosy.”
After a moment of silence, Josiah spoke again, her voice laced with subtle hope. “Lysander, let me ask you. Do you not want me to marry Tiffany?”
Lysander was taken aback. “No.”
Josiah pressed on, “I want to hear the truth.”
As he spoke, he couldn’t help but move closer to Lysander, trapping her between the cabinet and his chest to prevent her from making a run for it..
“Was that a difficult time for you?” He tried to comprehend Lysander’s feelings, and an unfamiliar pang of bitterness swelled in his chest.
Lysander met his gaze head–on and admitted, “A little. But it was bearable. During that time, I did some things I wanted to do but never had the courage to. Initially, I did them to distract myself. But looking back now, those things were quite meaningful.”
Josiah pulled away slightly, persistently seeking for an answer. “So, you’re saying you no longer miss what we once had?”
Lysander hadn’t expected him to ask such a question. After some thought, she said, “I suppose so. Anyway, you should treat Tiffany properly.”
The conversation circled back.
Josiah stood facing the balcony, his handsome profile bathed in the soft moonlight. His voice, husky from emotion, questioned Lysander, “But you admitted it, you did feel pain at that time. Was it because deep down… you had a bit of love for me, too?”
