Chapter 462 You Decided Not To Care

Lysander walked over, feeling slightly puzzled. “Wasn’t he just fine earlier?”

Tiffany’s eyes were red in distress, and her voice was laced with a sob as she said, “I don’t know what happened. He was walking just fine and then suddenly, he couldn’t stand anymore. I couldn’t hold him up… Lysa, you’re a doctor, so please come and take a look!”

“He suddenly fainted?” s

“Y–Yeah!”

For some reason, Lysander felt that there was something peculiar about this.

Why would a perfectly fine individual suddenly faint?

However, Tiffany didn’t seem to be lying. Her tears were falling incessantly as she pleaded, “I’m begging you, Lysa…

Upon seeing the situation, Adrian first sought to soothe the near–tearful young girl in front of him. “Calm down: where is he?”

“He’s at home…”

“Didn’t you mention that he fainted? Did you drag him back inside?”

“No, that’s not it… He fainted for a brief moment and managed to walk back on his own, but he still seems to be in a lot of pain. Lysa, you should come with me right away!” Tiffany explained.

Despite being a petite girl, Tiffany had surprising strength. She didn’t bother with further explanations as she hauled Lysander out the door.

Adrian also followed, saying, “I’ll go take a look too, the more doctors we have, the more solutions we can replace.”

Lysander had never been to the unit next door.

When Tiffany led her in, she realized that the layout of the two units was essentially the same. However, this unit was slightly larger and had a better orientation than hers.

The sunlight streamed in through the expansive floor–to–ceiling windows, and Josiah could be seen reclining on the living room couch.

The couch, however, was too small for him, so his legs could only dangle over the edge, touching the floor. He was contorted uncomfortably, and his suit appeared somewhat disheveled.

He draped his arm over his eyes, uncertain whether he was shielding them from the sunlight or lading the deep furrow in his brow.

“Josiah?”

There was

response.

Tiffany rushed over, looking pitiful as she crouched in front of the couch. “Jose! Jose! Don’t be scared! I’ve

Several seconds passed before Josiah finally reacted..

Slowly, she lifted his forearm that had been resting on his face. As his face came into view, it was clear that he didn’t look very well. His complexion was somewhat pale, and there was a hint of pain etched between

his brows.

“Who told you to bring her here? Tell her to leave.”

“Lysa is a doctor! You should let her examine you!”

Josiah scoffed weakly. “No need for that.”

“Josc

Struggling. Josiah managed to sit up, leaning his entire body against the back of the couch. He turned his head away with his eyes closed, yet the look of pain on his face did not lessen. In fact, it only seemed to intensify.

Adrian stepped forward and asked, “Do you need any assistance, Mr. Guerra?”

Josiah slowly opened his eyes, then let out a mocking laugh. “Well, if it isn’t Dr. Thorne and Dr. Sutton. I’m truly sorry for interrupting your candlelit dinner. You two should head on back. Don’t worry about me.”

Adrian carefully observed his state, momentarily uncertain whether the situation was genuine or a ruse.

“Mr. Guerra, I’m a doctor. Even if we’ve had our disagreements, in situations like this, we should set aside personal prejudices and prioritize your condition.”

Josiah chuckled softly and continued with his eyes closed, “Dr. Sutton, you truly embody the compassionate heart of a healer, with your broad–mindedness and grand vision. I’m humbled in comparison,”

As he spoke, his voice gradually softened until it was nothing more than a whisper.

Upon hearing this, Adrian couldn’t help but furrow his brows. “This isn’t the time to be stubborn. If you don’t want our help, that’s fine. I’ll call an ambulance for you.

Josiah sneered. “Our help? Since when did you and Lysander get so close?”

Unable to hold back any further, Lysander snapped at him, “Dr. Sutton and I were operating room partners back at Central Hospital, so why can’t he refer to us that way?”

A flicker of annoyance crossed Josiah’s face as he said, “Then hurry on back and carry on however you see fit.”

Adrian was keeping his emotions in check as he said, “Fainting unexpectedly can be a serious matter. If it’s due to low blood sugar, a bit of rest and some sugar should suffice. But if it’s related to the heart of brain, then that could be life–threatening.”

“Get out.”

“You-

Lysander interrupted Adrian’s words, turning directly to Josiah as she asked. “Are you sure you want us to leavt now?”

“Hurry up and get lost”

“Fine! But if anything happens, it’s on you. I’ve done my part in offering medical assistance, but if the patient refuses, whatever happens next is not on me. Let’s go, Dr. Sutton,” she said.

Josiah abruptly sat up, his voice stern as he demanded, “So, you decided not to care about me anymore?”

“What else do you expect us to do when you keep pushing us away?”

Even Tiffany, who was usually slow on the uptake, could tell there was a problem with his attitude. Fearing that the people she had finally mustered the courage to ask for help would be offended and leave, she quickly grabbed Lysander and said. “Don’t be angry, Lysa. I apologize on behalf of Jose. He’s not feeling well, so his attitude isn’t the best. He’s not usually like this…”

“Don’t worry: I’m not upset. If I let every difficult patient I encountered in the hospital bother me, I’d have been overwhelmed long ago. Lysander reassured her with a comforting smile.

Blinking her large eyes. Tiffany breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that Lysander had no intention of leaving. Only then did she start to help explain things on Josiah’s behalf.

“Lysa. I’m actually to blame for this. Yesterday, at my birthday party, Jose was kept busy entertaining guests for a long time. He also drank a lot of alcohol and didn’t finish until the early hours of the morning. Then. he had to answer a work call and ended up pulling an all–nighter. He’s really exhausted…”

Out of respect for her. Lysander gave a nod in response.

Tiffany then hurriedly tried to reason with Josiah, who was silent the whole time. “Jose, could you please calm–down? Lysa is a doctor, after all. If you don’t want to go to the hospital, why not let her examine you?”

Josiah subtly lifted his gaze, looking toward Lysander.

Lysander still had her apron on. Since she was at home, her hair was loosely pulled back, held in place by a claw clip. Strands of hair fell lazily, adding to her casual, laid–back beauty.

Lysander asked. “I will ask you one more time, Mr. Guerra. Are you sure you don’t need our help?”

Josiah’s gaze slowly swept across the room, but in the end, he turned away and said in a nonchalant tone, “I don’t think my condition requires an anesthesiologist, so I won’t disturb Dr. Sutton’s meal.”

It was clear as day he was showing them the door.

Adrian let out a soft chuckle and responded in a pleasant tone. “We’re in no rush to eat right now. Since we still haven’t figured out what caused your illness, it would be too soon for me to leave. Besides, there are many reasons for fainting. What if we replace out that you require anesthesia after we complete your diagnosis?”
