Chapter 76. Death-like Beauty

Lysander wrote, ‘Let’s just get five more boxes. Three boxes are your reward and I need the other two to repay a debt.’

Daphne replied, ‘Repay a debt? What debt?’

Lysander wrote, ‘A debt of love.”

The next morning, Lysander got up early.

Upon seeing that Lysander had trouble walking, Daphne insisted on driving her to the hospital and said, “If Josiah can do it, so can I.”

Lysander’s leg injury was not minor and with the hot weather now, she couldn’t wear pants, or it would get infected.

But here’s the problem-she didn’t have a skirt.

Not that she didn’t have any, but they were all still at Josiah’s house and he hadn’t sent them over yet.

Daphne’s eyes suddenly lit up. “I have one that’s perfect for you.”

She ran to her oversized wardrobe happily and picked out a sky-blue chiffon maxi dress. It was elegant and long, reaching down to her ankles, just enough to cover the bandage on her leg.

“This dress is absolutely perfect for you! I bought it and realized it was too small. You’re slimmer, so it should fit you just right.”

Lysander took it but frowned. “Why is the neckline… so low?”

“What? Have you never seen a low neckline before? At most, this is just a slightly larger round neckline. Hurry up and change into it. Time is running out.”

Lysander glanced at the time. The blood collection vehicle was scheduled to leave at 7:30 a.m. and would take at least half an hour to drive from home. Moreover, there would be traffic congestion during the morning rush hour, so time was indeed tight.

She didn’t have time to dawdle anymore, so she took the dress and went to the bedroom.

When she came out, Daphne’s eyes went straight-her figure was slender, her waist was delicate, and the neckline was indeed a bit low, but her collarbones were perfectly exposed.

Lysander’s collarbones were delicately beautiful, especially when her chest was lifted. It enhanced her allure and charm.

Daphne clapped her hands excitedly. “I still think Josiah should see an eye doctor. Aren’t you much more beautiful than that mistress?”

Lysander replied, “They are in a genuine relationship. Appearance is irrelevant.”

“Really? I doubt it.” Daphne snapped a photo of her with her phone.

Chapter 76 Death-like Beauty

“I’m capturing the beauty before me. What’s wrong with that? You’re wearing my dress. Why can’t I take a picture?”

Lysander sighed. “Fine. Thanks for letting me borrow your clothes. Go ahead and take the picture.”

Daphne took photos of her from various angles enthusiastically-close-ups, full body shots, and front and side profiles.

Eventually, Lysander couldn’t wait any longer. “If we don’t leave now, we’ll be late.”

Daphne quickly put away her phone. “Let’s go!”

Luckily, it wasn’t too crowded that day.

Upon arriving, the blood collection van was already parked at the hospital entrance.

The young nurses were busy loading various instruments and medical supplies onto the vehicle.

“Daphne, I’m heading to work now. Drive safely.”

Daphne was absorbed in her phone as she smiled. She waved her hand without looking. “Go ahead. I’ll pick you up after work.”

As soon as Lysander left the car, Daphne posted the edited photo collage of Lysander in a dress on her social media.

The caption read-“There is a beauty that is as striking as losing a husband.”

The Charming Ex-Wife

Chapter 77 What If I Don’t Give It To You?

Josiah furrowed his brow upon seeing the screenshot sent by Zane. He grabbed the cigarette box and instinctively headed toward the balcony.

“Where are you off to?” Lysanne inquired.

His frown deepened. Lately, she had been extremely vigilant about his whereabouts, almost bordering on paranoia. Every time he stepped out of her sight, she would question where he was going

“I’m going to the balcony to smoke,” Josiah replied.

Lysanne was persistent. “Why do you need to bring your phone? Who are you planning to call?”

Josiah was irritated. “Can’t I just watch the news? Do I have to make a call every time I have my phone with me? And even if I do, it’s work-related. Can’t I give instructions to my subordinate?”

Lysanne smiled and reached for his hand. “I’m just concerned about you…”

“Concerned?” He scoffed. “Lysanne, your ‘concern’ is suffocating my freedom!”

Her smile faltered momentarily. She released his hand and said in a somewhat affected tone, “Since you’re reading the news, why such a strong reaction?”

“I’m reacting strongly because… Lysanne, can you ease up on your possessiveness? I feel like I can’t breathe with you being so overbearing.”

“What do you want me to do then? Live like roommates with your ex-wife, where there’s no care or concern from either side? Is that what freedom is to you? Josiah, you’ve never experienced being cared for and missed by someone, so it’s hard for you to adapt all of a sudden. I blame that Lysander for setting a bad precedent for you.”

Josiah immediately countered, “I didn’t see anything wrong with that in the past. It’s now that’s makin me uncomfortable.”

“Go replace her then!” Lysander suddenly exclaimed. “Are you now disgusted with me? Do you feel that the child in my belly isn’t yours and it’s bothering you inside? When I had the accident before, the child couldn’t have been saved. It was you who took me to the hospital and it was Dr. Thorne who performed the surgery to keep this child until now. Are you blaming me now because you have some unresolved issue in your heart?”

He felt exhausted as he said, “Let’s drop it. It’s early in the morning. I don’t want to argue. I’m heading to work.”

“Hold on!”

“What now?!”

“Give me your phone. I want to check.”

Josiah stood still and furrowed his brow.
