Winter had once subtly hinted to Xavier that she wanted him to take the Heart of the Ocean necklace back, but Xavier always refused no matter how much she tried.

Winter indeed wanted that necklace, but not in this way. Noelle's actions were clearly a way to humiliate her, to declare war, and to remind her that Xavier had once loved Noelle deeply. Was Noelle implying that no matter how hard Winter fought, she was only taking something Noelle had discarded?

No one could see the turmoil in Winter's heart at that moment. She hated Noelle intensely, and she hated her current attitude even more.

Despite Winter's reaction, Noelle kept her smile. "Of course, you're my only sister. I didn't give you a proper wedding gift when you got married, so I thought I'd make it up to you on your birthday." Noelle leaned closer, placing the Heart of the Ocean into Winter's hand. "I've worn it before, but I think this necklace suits you better, which is why I'm giving it to you. Aren't you happy, Winter?" "You... Noelle, you..."

"Winter, there's no need to be so emotional. It's something a sister should do. They say a gentleman doesn't take what others treasure, and while I'm not a gentleman, that saying still applies to me." Noelle patted Winter's palm. "Make sure you hold on to it." "Noelle, you're doing this on purpose!"

"How could I?" Noelle replied, still smiling. "I came here today to wish you well."

She pulled the wedding invitation from her bag. "You've already given me a wedding invitation twice. They say good things come in pairs, so I suppose this is indeed a good thing for you, Winter!"

Winter was shaking with rage, She was desperate to slap Noelle across the face. However, with so many guests in the hall, her status would not allow her to act out.

Moreover, to the onlookers, it seemed as though Noelle had done nothing wrong. After all, she had even given Winter an expensive necklace.

Noelle leaned in, speaking in a low

voice that only the two of them could hear. "No need to be so moved, Winter. Even if there's a third or fourth time, I'll still have more

gifts to give you."

Seeing the cracks forming in Winter's composure brought Noelle a sense of satisfaction. Although she no longer had any romantic feelings for Xavier, she had once loved him. She had not wanted to be so ruthless, but they had pushed her too far and repeatedly trampled on her.

She had done nothing wrong. She had retreated and even compromised, yet they were never satisfied and treated her like a target. They probably did not realize she was not as harmless as they thought; she had just been keeping that side of herself hidden.

Since being with Charles, she increasingly believed that people should be a bit more selfish. At least, they should be kind to themselves.

After all, there were not many people in the world who would care about your feelings or sympathize with your struggles.

"You have so many guests to attend to. I won't keep you here, Winter," Noelle said, releasing Winter's hand and stepping back.

A serene smile played on her lips. Though to Winter, it was unbearably irritating.

"Fine, I'll go greet the other guests, then. Thank you for the gift, Noelle. I have something special to give you in return¶ater, so don't be in a hurry to leave! Winter spoke through gritted teeth. She was barely able to restrain herself from tearing the smile off Noelle's face.

Winter stormed off and headed to the restroom. That was where she violently threw the Heart of the Ocean, still in its box, onto the floor.
