Charles grinned. "Oh? Are you worried about Becky?"

Noelle made a face. "Becky works for you. If you're not concerned about her, why should I be?" She was not the one with time to kill. Noelle had not met Janet, but she could not shake the memory of the chaos from three months back. Janet seemed like a disaster waiting to happen. "Don't worry about it. Becky's used to this kind of thing, she's got it covered." Noticing Noelle's discomfort, Charles gently touched her stomach. "Feeling okay?"

Noelle nodded. "I overdid it with the food!"

Charles chuckled and playfully tapped Noelle's nose. "You!" He set aside his glass and gently massaged her belly. "Does it hurt here?"

"No, I'm fine. I just need to rest a bit. A short walk will sort me out." Noelle brushed Charles's hand away, dug out some digestive tablets from her purse, and popped one in her mouth, grinning. "See? I came prepared!"

"Don't eat those!" Charles exclaimed, reaching to snatch the digestive tablets from Noelle's grasp, but she was not having it. "They're not meds, don't believe me? Try one!" she teased, actually grabbing another tablet and aiming it at Charles's mouth.

Charles ducked out of the way, but

Noelle would not let up. She got to her feet, scrambled over to him, one hand snatching his chin, the other ready to pop the tablet into his mouth. Charles caught her hand, his dark eyes squinting, a hint of danger flashing in them.

Noelle felt a chill at his intense gaze and backed off, swallowing nervously. "Okay, okay, if you're not gonna eat them, I will!" she muttered, quickly shoving the digestive tablets into her mouth.

Charles grabbed Noelle. Thrown off

balance, she ended up flailing onto him as they both crashed onto the couch, with Charles on the bottom. With her hands planted on his chest, Noelle could not miss the intense blaze in his eyes.

Swallowing again, Noelle tried to get up, but Charles was not letting go. He held her wrists firmly. "Noelle!" he said, his voice low and husky, a melody that struck right at her heart.

Noelle's heart felt heavy, a mix of

emotions she could not quite name. She was about to say something when Charles reached out, cradling the back of her head. His hand locked her in place. Then, came the kiss intense and fiery. Before Noelle could even react, her lips met his, and her eyes fluttered open to fall into Charles's deep, endless gaze, instantly mesmerizing her.

His lips, warm and agile, danced along the curve of her lips, sketching the shape of her pretty mouth.

Overwhelmed, Noelle's eyes fluttered shut, and she let out a soft whimper, sparking the passion between them. Charles deepened the kiss gently, his hand tenderly supporting her head, fingers threading through her thick hair.

His lips and tongue explored hers, coaxing her lips apart, and the sweetness of the moment flooded his senses.
