The Cherished Wife (Noelle and Charles) -
Chapter 564
Noelle reached out, stealing another look at Steven.
you're not mad."
Steven nodded slightly and extended his hand, giving Noelle a quick, courteous shake before pulling back. "Folks, I've heard about Charles tying the knot for a while now. I've been swamped, so I couldn't make it back to catch up with you all. Sorry for the oversight. I hope
"You're kidding."
Noelle pulled her hand back, her eyes briefly darting to where Charles had pinched her. She could not resist giving Charles a quick pinch at his waist, then shot him a challenging look, her eyebrows arching ever so slightly. It was as if she was saying, that's for pinching me earlier.
Steven and Sean caught Noelle's playful behavior. Both men raised an eyebrow-Sean was used to it, but Steven seemed taken aback by Noelle's boldness, while Charles just seemed to go along with it. Steven's eyes lingered on Noelle's face momentarily before he decided to move on. "Let's go!"
"By the way, knowing you'd be back, I had someone spruce up your villa a few days ago. It's been empty for a while, though, so I'm not sure how comfy you'll replace it."
"No worries, it's just a crash pad. I won't be sticking around Brookville for long," Steven said, leading the way with Charles, deep in conversation.
Being a doctor, Sean was never one for business chatter and had no interest in eavesdropping on their market talk.
Noelle had the good sense not to tag along, just walking next to Sean. "So, is this Mr. Fischer guy really something? I mean, you, Charles, and Peter seem to think he's pretty amazing."
Sean quirked an eyebrow and let out a chuckle. "You'd think he's not as cool as Charles, huh? However, let me tell you, Mr. Fischer is so tough that even two Charles wouldn't stand a chance against him."
"That tough?" Noelle was taken
aback. She had not seen Charles in action, but she had always thought he was incredible. After all, he had saved her when she was drugged, effortlessly holding her up with one hand while she lay on the balcony. She was convinced Charles was nothing short of a superhero.
Then Sean said that even two superhero Charles combined could not take down Steven. How strong was that guy?
"Look at it this way," Sean continued. "Charles and Peter together wouldn't be a match for Mr. Fischer. That's how amazing he is. And about his background, if you're curious, you should totally ask your hubby sometime. He's got the inside
scoop, way more than I do!"
Whenever Sean spoke about Steven, his eyes lit up with sheer admiration. "And get this, Mr. Fischer is the reason I'm still around to tell these tales!"
Sean let out a sigh. "You know, you're not crushing on Mr. Fischer, are you? Just so you know, Mr. Fischer is super picky. Like, in over thirty years, not one woman has caught his eye."
Noelle rolled her eyes at Sean. "Seriously, what's going on in that brain of yours? I'm Charles's wife. Why would I fall for Steven? I just thought he seemed kind of awesome, and I was just curious, that's all."
"Noelle felt that Sean had
misunderstood her, but Sean just raised an eyebrow. 'Oh, come on. Who was it, that went all bug-eyed when you saw Mr. Fischer? You looked like you were about to pounce on him. You should've seen Charles's face. I bet he wanted to take Mr. Fischer down a notch, but he knows he's no match for him.""
