The landlady noticed Noelle's strained smile and could not help but shake her head. "Young lady, there are plenty of fish in the sea. Men aren't always reliable. Take my advice and replace a better one in the future." Noelle finally understood that the landlady must have thought she had been dumped.

She glanced down at herself, feeling a mix of amusement and frustration. She probably did not look her best today. After the long day, it was easy to see why the landlady might misunderstand.

"You've got it all wrong, ma'am. We didn't break up. Things are just a bit inconvenient right now, so I'm moving back for a while."

"Oh, I see," the landlady said, though it was clear she was not fully convinced. She nodded and decided to humor Noelle. "Alright then, but you've got so many heavy things. Let me help you carry them." "Oh, there's no need!" Noelle politely declined. "I can manage on my own. It's getting late, so I don't want to disturb your rest."

After finally managing to send the landlady on her way, Noelle found her keys and entered the apartment. The moment she stepped inside, she froze.

She glanced around, almost wondering if she had entered the wrong place.

She clearly remembered that when she left, she had discarded a lot of the old furniture and covered everything else in white sheets to protect them from dust. Now, however, the entire place looked completely refreshed. All the furniture had been replaced, and the arrangement seemed different.

Noelle blinked a few times, thinking she might be imagining things. However, when she reopened her eyes, everything remained the same.

She could not help but laugh, quickly realizing this was undoubtedly Charles' doing.

Sure enough, not long after, Charles called. "You home?"

Noelle glanced around, half-jokingly wondering if he had planted a tracker on her. "Yes, I just got here. But... Charlie, did you have someone come and clean up?"

"Yes. Do you like it?" Charles confirmed. "There wasn't much time, so I had Ronald arrange it. I wasn't sure if it'd be up to par."

"Don't worry, it's perfect. I thought I'd have to clean until midnight, but everything's already spotless, and all the essentials are here!" Noelle wandered around the house inspecting it. en Narugi

"Ronald's efficiency probably doesn't surprise you by now, huh?" she added.

"Yes." Charles trusted Ronald completely when it came to official matters, though he was still unsure about personal tasks. "As long as you're happy with it." "Charlie," Noelle said as she sat down on the couch. Even though the place looked great, her mind was elsewhere.

After living at Phoenix Tree

Residence for half a year, she had come to see that place as her true home. No matter how nicely this apartment was done up, it felt like just a temporary stop.

"What's wrong?" Charles immediately sensed the sadness in her tone, and a hint of emotion tugged at his heart.

He frowned slightly. "What's the matter, Nelly?"

Noelle sniffed. Feeling a bit silly, she shook her head. Realizing Charles could not see her, she added, "It's nothing. Everything's fine here. Are you home yet?"

"Yes." Charles looked at the pile of

documents in front of him, the dim

light casting long shadows. He

picked up a framed photo of him and Noelle. His normally stem expression softened a little.

"Do you miss me?"

"Nope!" Noelle hurriedly denied it but instantly regretted it. Biting her lip, she asked, "And what about you? Do you miss me?"
