The Cherished Wife (Noelle and Charles) -
Chapter 697
Noelle gazed into Charles' eyes, feeling completely captivated and unable to move.
Charles smirked when he saw her in this dazed state. He leaned in close, his warm breath brushing against her ear as he whispered, "Naturally, I came here to... do you."
A shiver ran down Noelle's spine, her eyes widening in surprise. She pushed Charles away, blinking several times and swallowing hard.
Seeing her reaction, Charles found it both amusing and exasperating. He reached out while playfully stroking Noelle's neck. "What are you doing? Normally, you'd be throwing yourself into my arms by now." "No way! You're so improper!" Noelle protested, her face turning a shade of red as vibrant as a boiled shrimp.
"You're usually somewhat of a gentleman. Maybe not exactly a refined gentleman, but at least not so-mmmph!"
Before Noelle could finish her sentence, Charles silenced her with a kiss. She stared at him in shock as he claimed her lips, his tongue tracing the outline of her mouth.
Noelle slowly closed her eyes, letting out a soft whimper as she began to respond to him, following his lead.
Their passionate encounter stretched on for a long while, and by the time they were both sated, Noelle was utterly exhausted.
She lay motionless beside Charles, her hand gripping his tightly.
Charles leaned against the headboard, watching her tender gesture with warmth flooding his eyes. He gently clasped her hand in return. "I'm not going anywhere," he promised.
"I know," Noelle murmured, but she just wanted to keep holding his hand.
Charles chuckled softly while shaking his head. He leaned down to kiss her forehead, her eyes, and then her chin. He sighed. "What an enchantress you are. Have you put some kind of spell on me?" "Yes," Noelle replied with a mischievous grin, rolling over so that half of her body was draped over his.
Her hand began to roam over his chest. "I've cast a spell on you, and it's forever-there's no breaking it."
"Is that so?" Charles caught her wandering hand, his voice taking on a warning edge. "Behave, or you'll be the one to suffer later."
Did she not realize that men were especially vulnerable to teasing at moments like this?
Noelle's eyes sparkled playfully, and she laughed. "Charlie, tell me... you came here much earlier, didn't you?"
"Yes," Charles
admitted with a nod,
his deep eyes flashing briefly with an
intense, almost dangerous light.. "You'll have to bear with this a little
longer. I'll take care of this problem soon." en Narugi
"I know," Noelle replied softly. "I understand that this isn't easy for you."
She was not someone who would force him into anything. "I'm not trying to pressure you. But you should know, it's not fear that makes it hard to be here alone. It's just that miss you."
She did not want to be apart from him, especially since they were married yet had to live this way.
Charles raised her hand to his lips, kissing it tenderly. "I'm sorry you have to go through this."
"It's not about me," Noelle said while shaking her head. "I just worry about you. You already have so much on your plate with your work, but you have to deal with all of this too." He was just a man in his early 30s yet he was shouldering an immense burden.
Everyone said he was powerful, the heir of the Hoffmans, and the famed Mr. Hoffman of Brookville. However, the more she got to know him, the more she realized he was just an ordinary man.
He got tired, frustrated, and needed someone to lean on, just like anyone else.
"Charlie," Noelle whispered as she wrapped her arms around his waist. "We don't have to rush. Do things at your own pace."
