EMILY KING POV

I woke up in shock, startled by the voice of a little girl screaming.

An excruciating pain surge through my whole body.

Sitting up, I look down and saw the bandage tightly wrapped around my chest.

My eyes flashed with hatred when I thought about the scar that will probably stay on my chest forever.

I look around the room, trying to figure out the place.

I was in a huge room with beautifully decorated walls, a queen-size bed and high-quality furniture inside the room.

I was expecting myself to land on a cold, dirty, small warehouse.

Shaking my head, I push myself off of the bed.

I need to escape.

Grabbing my leather jacket on the chair beside the bed, I put it on as I walked towards the door, ignoring the pain in my chest and the pounding on my head.

Putting my right-hand palm on my chest, I use my power to speed up the healing.

After a few seconds, I gasped and rested my head on the door as sweat trickled down my jaw. I kick the door with one swift movement, smirking when I notice that no one was guarding outside the room.

What an idiot!

He leaves me unguarded, thinking I couldn’t run when the door is locked.

Following the sounds of peoples shouting and screaming, I replace myself walking towards the stairs, which would lead me downstairs.

When I reach the stairs, the scene downstairs wasn’t entirely pleasant. I frowned seeing several bodies on the ground, unmoving.

The whole place smells with blood.

So, that’s why no one was guarding the room when I woke up.

What a lousy person, he didn’t even have any guard inside his mansion?

Shaking my head, I notice a mix of aura inside the place.

It must have come from the black-clothed man and the people.

My eyes went dark. I was not too fond when a villain killed innocent people without reason.

Sometimes, they would do it to force others to work under them, or it’s because the bigger one always wanted to be feared.

Well, this better worth it.

The sound of my footsteps going down the stairs echoed on the room. Dozen of peoples stared at me—some in disbelief and some in shock.

I smirked, “Well, well, well. Look who’s here.” I looked at one of the black-clothed men.

His eyes widen in shock and horror.

I hated him since he ruined one of my birthday party. I was on my way of wishing in front of the birthday cake. But, once I open my eyes, the candle has been blown off.

The drunk guy also had taken a bite of my cake. I narrowed my eyes at him. But, he only grins from ear to ear.

Furious, I charged at him and bit his right arm leaving a deep mark of my teeth on it.

I’m wondering how he could escape from the punishment given to him.

Too bad, I wouldn’t let him escape twice.

“Nice to see you again, Ashton. It’s been a while since I met you, hasn’t it?”

“W-what are you doing...h-here?” he stuttered.

“Shut up! I don’t want to hear your voice!” I snapped at him.

Enough to make him step back with fright.

The one in front of me, who seems to be the leader of the group finally speaks up.

“Who are you?!” He looked down at me arrogantly.

My face fell in irritation.

No one dares to ask me who I am!

I want to rip his head off. But, knowing my brother, he’ll kick my ass for doing something without telling him.

But, touching them a little won’t be a problem, right?

Without hesitating, I slapped him hard on the face. He looks at me with his face redden in pure anger and embarrassment.

He swings his swords towards me.

I ducked and punched his stomach with force before turning my back at him and gave his head a flying kick.

Seeing their leader got beaten, three of his member charge at me and I whistle in joy.

It’s been a while since I fought. My limbs were itching to move.

In less than five minutes, the three of them lay unconsciously on the floor with blood, bruise and maybe a few broken bones?

The leader’s face paled at the sight before him. I raise my eyebrows at him, and he sprints out from the mansion.

Huff! Scaredy cat!

I rolled my eyes.

I looked down at the bodies lying on the floor—several dead bodies of innocent people. My chest tightens at the scene before me.

If only I got here a little early, they must still be alive right now.

I couldn’t help blaming myself for their death.

Then, I look at the people behind me who had been watching me the whole time.

They didn’t scream when the fight started.

No gasp of horror.

There’s nothing but sadness in their eyes.

A glimpse of a little girl crying without a sound caught my attention. I walk towards her and kneel on her level. So, I can see her face to face. She flinched when I raise my hand and brush her tears with my thumbs.

“My parent is gone...” the girl sobbed.

My heart stung.

She had become an orphan.

“I’m sorry,” I said to the little girl with guilt lacing on my voice.

I stood up and look at the people who were staring at me. But I didn’t saw him.

“Who’s in charge?” I asked no one in particular.

A tall and well-built guy clear his throat before he spoke up. He has blonde hair and dark eyes.

“It’s me, Your Highness,” he said, looking directly at me.

Good. The man is brave enough to look at me in the eyes.

I nodded.

“Clear the mess. Tied the three guys and sent them to my castle’s dungeon. I’ll order a few guards to come and guard this place. Is there any problem with that?” I asked and furrowed my eyebrows when some of them seem hesitant.

“Yes, your highness. Thank you for saving us. We’re very grateful for your help, and we owe you for that,” the blonde hair guy chirped.

“Your name?” I asked the blonde hair guy.

“It’s Jeff, Your Highness,”

“Hmm...I want to discuss something with you,” I said.

I saw him gulp.

“Of course. This way, Your Highness,”

We walked to the patio and sat on the chair across from each other.

“Who brought me here? Who takes care of my wound? How many days did I pass out? Where am I?”

Wow! A big pat on the back for that Emily! Straight to the point!

He seems amused by my direct question.

Tch! I’m not particularly eager to waste my time asking how is he doing or how many cats does his grandma own.

I’d like to have the answer fast.

“I’m afraid I can’t tell you about who brings you here. Aunt Melissa treated your wound. You passed out three days-including today-and you are in Czephronia kingdom,”

The Czephronia Kingdom? Where had I heard this name before?

“So, I guess this person was more respected than me, hmm?” I raise my left eyebrow mockingly.

“I-it’s not like that, Your Highness,” he stuttered.

I was pissed. I wanted to yell at Jeff and force him to tell me who the hell dare’s to bring me here.

I know it must be the stranger. But, I asked for a DAMN name, dude!

A small sob stopped me from doing so. I turn around to see the little girl just now walking out from the mansion door while wiping her teary eyes.

Jeff quickly approached her and picked her up.

I stared for a good two minutes when her right shoulder came into my view, making me tense. It was a mark. A dragon figure. Like mine and my brother, my parent.

I studied it for a second, making sure it was not fake. I stood up and approached Jeff and the little girl.

“Jeff,”

He turns to me with a confused look.

“Can I talk to her?”

He seems hesitant before giving in. He walked towards the table and sat the little girl down on one of the chairs. He bent down and stroked her hair gently.

“She’s nice, and she won’t hurt you. Be a good girl and listen to her, okay? Can you promise me that?”

“Promise,” She nodded her head as he sighed in relief.

He nodded at me before disappearing inside the mansion door.

I look at the little girl and notice her head hung low staring at the grass at the end of her feet.
