The Day I Kissed An Older Man -
Chapter 2384
Melody used to think she was not good enough, and that was why her parents liked Wendy more. However, later she realized there was nothing wrong with her. She did not need to be exceptionally special for anyone to like her.
It was only after truly experiencing the blatant favoritism her parents had for Wendy that she found Cedric and Beatrice's unconditional love toward her especially touching. It turned out that there was really someone in the world who would stick up for her and pat the back of her hand so gently.
Beatrice even felt apologetic about neglecting Melody after Thalia arrived. Melody had never experienced such kindness before.
Beatrice wiped away Melody's tears gently. "My poor child, you've suffered unfairly. Don't worry, I'm going to do everything I can to fix this problem. Just remember that you're a Missus Rivera now. As long as I'm here, I won't let any other women come in between you and Lucas. I'll also get Lucas to apologize to you. He was wrong in how he had handled this matter."
Beatrice suddenly recalled the night when she noticed Thalia acting strangely in the kitchen.
"Logically speaking, even if he was asleep, Lucas would definitely wake up if someone was messing with him like that. Unless he was drugged..."
Beatrice's head shot up suddenly. The encounter with Thalia in the kitchen that night gave her an epiphany. She finally realized why Lucas had fallen asleep on the couch!
"After all, Lucas wouldn't fall asleep on the couch no matter how tired he was. Plus, it wasn't even that late. He wouldn't normally fall asleep that early. When I went to his study, I even ran into Thalia. She said she was worried Lucas might catch a cold so she put a blanket over him when she went in to get a book, but I saw her earlier in the kitchen. That woman must've done something to Lucas' drink. Otherwise, he would've woken up when Thalia moved him around!"
Everything made sense to Beatrice, while Melody only felt a creeping sense of dread.
'Thalia will truly stop at nothing to achieve her goals!' thought Melody. She was well aware that Thalia was trying to make her jealous and disappointed in Lucas by sending her the intimate photos. Unfortunately for Thalia, she had not anticipated that Melody would tell Beatrice what happened, leading the latter to piece together the string of events that really happened that night.
"Melody, I was a bit upset when you didn't come home, but now, I agree that it's better for you to stay here for the time being. You have my word that I'm going to get to the bottom of this matter and give you an explanation, okay?" Beatrice said.
She then stood up hastily, eager to go home to start the investigation.
Melody could not help but worry. "Grandma, how about you stay here tonight? It wouldn't hurt to wait until tomorrow morning. After all, it's been a while since the incident, so you might not necessarily replace evidence even if you go back now."
However, Beatrice was insistent. "I should go back sooner. Who knows, I might still replace some evidence. I must replace out what that woman did to Lucas' drink."
Only a despicable person would use such despicable means to sow discord between Lucas and Melody. Thalia's impression in Beatrice's mind plummeted even more.
"I know you're eager to give me an explanation, but Grandma, I'm not in a hurry anymore. After all the explanations you've given me, I realize I've misunderstood Lucas. Plus, it's getting late, so it's not safe to go back now," Melody said.
Beatrice patted Melody's shoulder reassuringly. "Nonsense. I'll be perfectly safe since I have our family driver take me home. Alright, you stay put and focus on your acting. I'll come pick you up when your filming wraps up, okay? Once I sort out this matter, I'll come to see you again."
Melody had no choice but to reluctantly see Beatrice off with the help of her crutches since the latter insisted on going home.
