"I finally managed to make a comeback recently and landed a few minor acting roles after begging and pleading. But it's just my luck that some people know about my relationship with Melody and always replace ways to undermine me because of it.

"I was supposed to shoot a commercial for a company, and the advertiser specifically requested me. But just because of Melody, I lost that opportunity. Helen, that scheming daughter of yours should compensate me. Hasn't she caused me enough misery already? Now I have to suffer because of her again. It's just not fair!"

Helen felt ashamed. "Melody...isn't the one to bully anyone, right? Besides, there's always some scandal going on in the entertainment industry. Every day, it's either criticizing this person or that person. We shouldn't always believe the rumors that go around."

Wendy rolled her eyes. "Have you forgotten how she got me into trouble before? Will your daughter only be satisfied to see this family ruined?"

Helen sighed. "That brat hasn't lived at home for a long time. What can I do about her? By the way, your father doesn't read entertainment news, so let's not tell him about this!"

Upon sensing Helen's reluctance to help her, Wendy immediately released her arm and hugged herself. She stood coolly to the side.

"Since you're not willing to deal with your daughter, I'll have to take matters into my own hands. It was my bad luck to get into trouble because of her last time. I'm not going to give up on making her pay now that Dad has gotten me out of it."

Wendy turned and left.

Helen hurriedly chased after her, grabbing her wrist. "Wendy, don't be angry. Let's not make a scene. Your father had to pull a lot of strings to get you out last time. It won't end well if you get into trouble again." Wendy stopped in her tracks, showing a disdainful expression as she faced away from Helen. She always knew how to manipulate her ever since she was young. Suddenly, Wendy turned and hugged Helen.

"How about this, Helen? You go talk to Melody and tell her not to mention the relationship between me and her to anyone else, okay?"

Helen was puzzled. "After Melody moved out, we had a falling out between us. Besides, she's not the type who'd spread rumors about our relationship with her."

The most important thing was that

even if she went to talk to Melody and told her not to spread rumors, what difference would it make? Melody no longer cared about her. She would never listen to her!

Wendy flashed an understanding smile. "Helen, wasn't actually asking you to talk to Melody. I just

wanted to give you a to

see her. It's been so long since

swner

you've seen her. Don't you miss her?"

Helen paused. It had been quite some time, and she had not really thought much about Melody. However, Wendy's thoughtful gesture did touch her.

Helen smiled happily. "Wendy,

having you as my daughter is

for

already good enough for me. As for

Melody she left without looking back, and she even caused you to

get into trouble. I don't see the need to visit her. If there's anything you need me to do, just let me know.

"Even if Melody has left this home, she should still be mindful that her actions don't affect you. I know how hard it is for you to establish yourself in this industry."

Wendy immediately pretended to be touched. "I knew you care about me the most... Since Melody is so popular now, why don't you go see her and record some things for me?"

Helen could see the calculating gleam in Wendy's eyes, but to keep the peace in this household, she eventually nodded with gritted teeth.

"Just say the word, and I'll do it."
