Operations in the set were going according to plan, and Melody only went over to take a look because she heard that her mother was coming.

How could her mother assault her with the thermos flask? Would she be able to escape from legal consequences just because she was Melody's mother? Would it be possible?

Helen was struggling on the way to the police station. "You can't arrest me. I'm her mother! I'm educating my daughter. Which law have I violated?"

A female police officer was very impatient and said, "It's because of mothers like you that there are so many unfortunate children. Do you really think that you can do anything to your daughter just because you're her mother?

"You hit your daughter's head with a thermos flask. If anything, you tried to kill her!"

They had seen a fair share of domestic issues at the police station, but this was the first time they encountered such a vicious mother. They could not stand to see it, let alone inflicted upon Melody.

Wendy never expected that Helen would fail to accomplish that, and even got herself into the police station.

When she received the call on set, she looked irritated.

"Who are you talking about? Helen? She's not my mother. Please don't call me again. Yes, you called the wrong number. Her daughter is Melody.

"Yes, I'm still busy. I shall hang up if there is nothing else from your end."

Wendy saw the director's impatient look and quickly hung up the phone.

She finally got this opportunity to shoot for an advertisement, and she would not miss it because of Helen.

As for why Helen ended up at the police station, she reckoned it was because she was stupid. What did it have to do with her?

The female police officer hung up the phone helplessly. "She said she's not your daughter. Did you remember the wrong number?"

Helen's smile stiffened. She was

afraid that this matter would reach Ethan's ears and would land her in more trouble, so she gave Wendy's phone number instead.

It was Wendy who made her seek Melody. Helen did not expect that she would deny her to the police.

"Officer, did you not explain the

situation to her? She doesn't know how dire this matter is, which is why she said she wouldn't come. Could you please call her again?"

The police officer felt helpless, but she did as Helen asked. The next time she called, however, Wendy's phone was turned off.

She put her mobile phone close to Helen's ear. "Look. She looks like she doesn't want to come over at all. Is her attitude not obvious enough?"

Helen fell into her chair in despair. She never thought that all her efforts over the years would all be in vain.

She thought that she was doing her best in this family. For the sake of Wendy, she even neglected her own daughter.

Even a piece of ice would be melted by her, but reality slapped her hard.

Was Wendy's respect and love all fake? If it was true, why did she refuse to even visit her at the police station?

Helen was in so much pain that she really felt confused.

Her biological daughter ended up in

the hospital because of her. The other daughter whom she devoted all her efforts and loved for so many years, ignored her instead.
