Wendy thought she had hit a nerve with Melody, but to her surprise, Melody just chuckled lightly.

"What are you laughing at?" Wendy slammed her hands on the table.

Melody, seemingly puzzled, smiled again. "Why can't I laugh? Wendy, do you still think I'm the same teenage girl I was? Who's the one stuck in the past? I don't need the things you're talking about anymore." Wendy's smile faltered. "Stop pretending. You're definitely jealous of me. You'll never receive our parents' love in your lifetime!"

Ironically, it was Wendy who seemed more provoked between the two. She kept reiterating that Melody would never receive love from Helen and Ethan. However, Melody had long moved past needing their love and therefore remained unfazed.

"If I can't get it, then I can't. Are they that important? Wendy, why don't you understand? You've received their love, but now... Tsk, tsk, tsk." Though Melody did not explicitly say it, she assessed Wendy from head to toe, causing Wendy to feel an inexplicable heat rise to her face.

"What's wrong with me? I'm doing just fine. I have so many endorsement deals I can't even count them while you only have this mediocre movie! You're just jealous of me. Just you wait. One day, my fans will definitely outnumber yours!"

"Is that so?" retorted Melody simply.

As Wendy continued to bring up their parents, Melody knew she had already won this battle. She was no longer the lonely, helpless little girl she once was. It was only when someone lacked something that they kept mentioning what they had, but Melody did not care about any of those things Wendy mentioned. Besides, when had Shaun's films ever been described as 'mediocre'?

Furthermore, what she pursued was never the same as what Wendy pursued. Things like endorsement deals that Wendy cared about meant nothing to her. Melody only cared about bringing good movies to her fans.

Wendy was angered by Melody's indifference. She suddenly stood up and began to insult Melody vehemently, pointing her finger at her.

"You can drop the act in front of me! After living together for so long, do you think I don't know what kind of person you are? You're not as carefree as you make yourself out to be! Right now, you're not even worth a damn. Do you know how much the netizens despise you? When your movie is released, it won't do well at the box office. I'm telling you, you're doomed to be a flop!"

Melody remained unfazed, looking at Wendy as though she were observing a monkey.

"Did you come here today just to insult me?" she asked.

Melody's words reminded Wendy that she had originally come to persuade Melody to cooperate with the online hype. She did not really want to take this approach, but it was the best approach she could think of then.
