The Day I Kissed An Older Man -
Chapter 2515
Alas, Thalia eagerly approached Beatrice, saying, "Grandma Beatrice, I was just thinking of talking to you a moment ago. I didn't expect to run into you here."
Beatrice's tone remained indifferent, devoid even of the smile she shared with her longtime friend.
"Grandma, besides wishing you a happy birthday today, I also wanted to apologize to you," Thalia said hesitantly, glancing at Amber.
Amber looked around in surprise before asking, "Are you looking at me?"
Thalia nodded shyly and said, "I'm sorry, Ma'am. I have some things to discuss with Grandma Beatrice, so can you please give us some room? I'm really sorry about this."
Beatrice waved her hand dismissively. "She's not a stranger. Whatever you have to say, you can say it in front of her. Of course, if it's not important, you can leave it unsaid. I have other guests to attend to." Beatrice's impatience made Thalia feel awkward.
"Oh, alright. I'm sorry for behaving immaturely before. Lucas and I have cleared things up, and I understand that it's not possible between us. So, please rest assured, I won't act childish like before. I won't entertain any inappropriate thoughts. The only reason I haven't gone back to Molomia is that I need to gather inspiration for my work and collect material for my future classes. After this semester ends, I'll fly back to Molomia. Grandma, you don't need to worry anymore."
Thalia's words seemed to suggest her plans, but to Beatrice, it sounded like she was being forced to leave. Even if so, what did it matter?
'Good thing this girl still has some self-awareness and knows she's not welcome here. A semester, eh? That's only less than two months. I guess I can tolerate her presence until then,' thought Beatrice.
Out loud, she said, "Well... It's great if you can think that way. I guess my words to you haven't been in vain. There really isn't any possibility between you and Lucas. If there were, you two would've ended up together long ago, wouldn't you agree?
"I'm not the old-fashioned type. In other words, I've never liked meddling in the affairs of young people. This applies to Lucas, and it applies to you as well. Just one thing, though. I hope you can truly keep the promises you made today.
"Don't try to interfere in any way between Lucas and Melody. Melody is very precious to me, and I don't want her to be hurt in the slightest because of you, understand?"
Thalia only apologized to Beatrice to make her drop her guard, yet Beatrice dared to reprimand her in front of so many people?
Thalia's face turned red with embarrassment. Beatrice only stopped talking when Thalia finally could not take it anymore and fled the scene.
Amber passed Beatrice a glass of warm water promptly. Beatrice cleared her throat before looking at her good friend.
"You've never been this harsh to the younger generation before," said Amber.
Beatrice smiled wryly and shook her head. "I wouldn't have done so if I wasn't forced into it."
Any other young person, Beatrice
would never use such a tone to
speak to them, but Thalia was different. Thalia had stayed in her house for just a few weeks, yet t was enough for Beatrice's
impression of her to plummet.
Beatrice only said what she said to her to let Thalia know that she had seen through her and that she better not harbor any illusions of using underhanded tactics to get closer to Lucas again.
Beatrice sighed as she gazed at Thalia's retreating figure. "These are all doomed connections."
Amber patted her hand comfortingly. "You're always worrying too much. Let the young people handle their own affairs."
